This poorly maintained facility is only matched by its level of service. We booked a spa day with 3 treatments which we were over booked for and this was reduced to 2 prior to our visit. On arrival, this was further reduced to 1 with a very poor explanation. We would have cancelled or rescheduled as this was an hours drive for us. We called in advance to confirm accessibility for our friend with limited mobility. On arrival we're shown stairs with no lift. We then had to leave. However, the cleanliness and appearance left us somewhat relieved over our initial disappointment.

Loved every minute from being greeted by a lovely young lady on reception (neve) I think, who?s local recommendations were spot on, To the well stocked bar, Room 333 was large with a huge comfy bed
The chocolates and drinks voucher were a nice surprise
Will deffo return

We had a fabulous few days away and will definitely be back. A very historic hotel in a fabulous location for long walks around Stirling. The rooms are spacious, food is excellent, all round 100%!

Stayed here for 1 night during our travels. We had forgotten our swimming costumes but the hotel hat a shopping facility in the leisure centre so we were happy. Lovely peaceful surroundings. Many dining options. Great view from our hotel room. Easy parking, we would recommend this hotel.
Rooms: Clean and spacious
Nearby activities: Land Rover experience
Argyll and Sutherlands museum
Spa and fitness
Food and drinks: All walking distance

What?s not to like about staying in a former boys high school that was built in the mid 1800s? Oh, and it just happens to be down the street from Stirling Castle. Fantastic!!
Walkability: Minutes to the castle and shopping district. Great location.

Decent enough hotel. Took a picture of the phone that people keep saying doesn't exist...as it does.
Wifi worked well. Bed was comfortable. Nice mattress and blanket, but there was a gigantic gross stain on the blanket. (Either an old pee or period stain) Ya'll may want to retire this one or just bleach it 900x.
Shower water pressure was ..okay.
Room became super hot as the radiator was going, but after lowering it, it got a bit better, but I did wake up sweating in the middle of the night.
Windows don't appear to open? Though maybe they do, but it looks like some type of alarm is attached to them, so was not able to open windows to alleviate my overheating.
Front desk lady on check-in needs a wee bit more patience with tourists who may have trouble with language/accents. Felt like she was being super judge and looking down at us.
Breakfast buffet was alright. Not the best and not the worst.
Overall, worth the money spent due to location and amenities. Did not feel ripped off. Would stay at this location again.

Well located hotel. Only 5 minutes walk to Stirling Castle. Beautiful old town. Rooms suitably equipped. Unfortunately the window was broken. The heating worked well. 2 pillows per guest but only 1 blanket for 2 people. Breakfast was chaotic. Service overwhelmed. Cold cuts, butter etc. constantly empty. 3 course menu in the evening was very tasty. Unfortunately the water is undrinkable because it is chlorinated.

This could be such a cool place, but it Is in such disrepair. Peeling paint, stained walls, hotter than Hades. Food is fair. Concerned about wiring as my converter fried when I plugged it into an outlet. Staff seemed unconcerned.

Nice spa .
. Pool sauna jacuzzi etc
Parking tricky on Saturday but may have been due to a wedding reception . Just a 15min walk from castle & plenty of good restaurants within a short walk to choose from.

Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with our stay at the Highland Hotel. The hotel is clearly getting old. It's clean, but overall it looks old-fashioned and doesn't offer much comfort.
The parking situation was particularly annoying. Although it says there are 86 parking spaces available, hotel guests share them with conference guests, restaurant goers and others not staying at the hotel. On the day of arrival we had to park our car on the street as there was no free parking space, although we still had to leave our license plate number. The next morning we even had to repark the car because it couldn't stay permanently on the street. That was extremely inconvenient.
The breakfast buffet was okay, but if you don't come early enough, everything looks pretty unappetizing. The staff seemed overwhelmed, a lot of things were already empty and what was still there was cold (e.g. baked beans, sausages and grilled tomatoes).
To make matters worse, when we arrived we were given a room that apparently someone was already living in. After going to reception, we were told to wait in the bar, but no one was willing to accept our drink requests. Eventually we were given another room, but that didn't leave a good impression.
While the location in Stirling is convenient, we definitely wouldn't return due to the many shortcomings. Next time we'll choose a small, more personal B&B instead of this conference and wedding hotel.
The price (150? per night is a disgrace considering the condition of the hotel)

Absolute zero of a hotel:
- for starters the pics look amazing, but when we got here we were utterly disappointed. This place is not nearly as vibrant as the photos.
- room is very depressing looking. I hope it?s clean, but it seems dingy and depressing.
- it?s hot and humid in here, despite it being 16 outside.
- Opened the window but the parking lot is right outside so it?s very noisy and people are walking so close to our window. Feels like a bad motel in an old 80s movie.
- looks conveniently located in the center of town. We are a young healthy couple, but if you aren?t healthy, have medical conditions or are on the older side, this place is on a really long steep hill. Think about that if you?re looking for a place with walkability.
- not really conveniently located to anything honestly, because you need a car so ideally anything within 10 minutes would be just as well located.
0/10 so far, but I?ll update if something positive pops up. I?m guessing not since I just peeked in the bathroom and it looks like a handy person should be doing some work in there. Oh look, the closet door just fell off.
- can someone also explain why the rooms smell so bad? Is that fish or just old rooms that don?t smell good? Thankfully we carry febreeze.
- is this bed a joke? I can literally feel the zipper in the middle of it. Well, no coupling tonight because this strip of metal has clearly determined that this is in deed not a king bed, and neither of us want to lay on the metal strip on our bed.
- No toiletries provided, at all. Well they have an all in one soap, so I guess that?s something. It?s a hand/body/shampoo/conditioner gel. This is not even 2-star hotel level. Who rated this place?
- no outlets by my side of the bed. Guess this king room is meant for a single person?
Just a funny observation? you can see Stirling castle from almost anywhere in town. This hotel is like right by it and I can?t see the castle at all.

Set in a beautiful location, only 10 mins downhill from Stirling Castle and only 5 mins walk from the town centre. Spa and wellness facilities were fantastic. Restaurant for dinner and breakfast was great. Rooms are traditionally Scottish with tartan carpets and pictures of different locations in Scotland.
Rooms: Very spacious and comfy.
Nearby activities: Castle, Old jail and Town centre only 5 mins away.
Food and drinks: Great food and drinks priced typically for a hotel.

In 2015 I had the worst experience of my life traveling, in this hotel.
My wife was 3 months pregnant and when we arrived at the hotel they told us that they were overbooked. It was 8pm and we were left on the street in the middle of the night with the closest alternative offered more than 1 hour away by car.
All the reception staff were not very empathetic to the situation.
May this comment provide at least a message of the negative human level that we lived in that experience.
