Beautiful building, common areas and breakfast but the room I was in was really shabby and noisy- and the door shook whenever someone went by in the corridor. Also wifi and TV didn't work.

We ate at the hotel restaurant, Cronies. We ordered smoked chicken and house-made Mac'n'Cheese. Very good, the best we have eaten. The place is very nice, and the staff is very nice. The bathrooms are very clean and in general everything looks very good. We ate very well and there are several parking lots a few minutes walk away. For around 30-35 pounds you eat well.

Had a lovely cozy one night stay in Stirling. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also spacious, warm and clean. Loved the shower gel and shampoo provided.Lovely quiet room, unfortunately hotel wifi does not work in the rooms but it was nice to have a little break from my phone anyway.Ate dinner in the bar/restaurant which was delicious and I couldn?t fault, I also thought very good value for money. I got the Balmoral Chicken with delicious haggis bonbons and veg etc.check in and check out was a breeze and the hotels central location made it a lovely and easy stay to explore some of Stirling and of course the castle.

In need of a bit of TLC, but other than that, it's a fantastic hotel, slap bang in the centre of Stirling.

This hotel is wonderful and represents a very important piece of Scottish history. The building, reminiscent of a cozy Scottish castle, was built by James Wingate and the Golden Lion Hotel opened in May 1786. In 1986 the Minister of Tourism created and presented the hotel with a plaque commemorating 200 years of its opening! It is a welcoming, historic and romantic place! Beautiful! However, it is important to underline a few things: the hotel website and the third party booking website must make it clear that there is no Wi-Fi in the rooms, but only on the ground floor (reception, restaurants). One important piece of information that no one offers is that there is an elevator from the garage floor to the reception and rooms. When checking in it would be important to clarify how the heating of the rooms works in the winter. Very good breakfast! Great restaurant! The TVs are a bit old and very small in size. Very narrow double beds. A safety bar for getting in and out of the tub would be essential! In the end, knowing all this, I highly recommend you get to know it and enjoy it, because it is a wonderful place and staying here means entering the history of Scotland! Thank youRooms: Good rooms, very quiet and comfortable! A little old and small television!Nearby activities: Lots to do nearby!Safety: Place with a lot of security, allowing your entire stay to be peaceful.Walkability: The location is very good and allows us to do everything on foot nearby.Food & drinks: Hotel has Bar and Restaurant, but if you want you can go out and look for others.

Simple but satisfying food at Cronies bar and restaurant. Can't speak to the quality of the hotel itself, but judging by the quality of the restaurant, foyer and bathroom interiors I'm sure it's very nice.Food & drinks: Was expecting something a little more extravagant given the plush hotel interior, but the food turned out to be very simple. Not necessarily a bad thing, because it was all very nice and fresh, decent price and staff were friendly and attentive.I had the ham sandwich and soup, wife had tuna sandwich and soup. we shared fries. As you can see from the pictures, the sandwich is literally just bread, butter, ham. Like I said, it was fresh, tasted good and filled me up. Just measure your expectations is all.

Just stayed here for a couple of days. The hotel is beautiful and full of history. The staff are amazing and the food and service is second to none. We stayed on the top floor with great views. I'd highly recommend this hotel. Looking forward to returning.
