Stayed at the Cross Keys overnight. What a wonderful village pub. Delicious food. Cosy bars with log fires. Excellent staff and a very friendly and welcoming owner. I recommend unreservedly.

Having recommended The Cross Keys to many of our friends here in Glasgow - and having directed a bunch of pals staying in nearby Gargunnock House to stop in for a spot of lunch on Sat whilst visiting the Christmas Market - we were horrified that 3 of our party should be taken down with food poisoning. The 3 poisoned friends had all eaten the Cullen Skink served on Sat 25th Nov. Luckily - I was late and missed the kunch service so made do with dipping a chip in my husbands Skink. That night I lay awake beside my 10mo baby with terrible tummy ache - but that was nothing compared to my husband and two friends. All 3 spent the night bent over (or on) the toilet - whole body aches / feverish / shivering... 2 had travelled from London and Bristol respectively - we had come through from Glasgow for my birthday weekend away. Half of the weekend was stolen from us by the food poisoning. And to make matters worse, when an unaffected member of the party phoned the pub to give The Cross Keys a heads up that any remaining Skink from Saturdays service should be discarded immediately, he was told there was no way it could've been the cause!!?? No apology... nothing. Out of about 12 of us (a few sensibly went to Rhubarb and Lime), the 3 who spent the next 24 hours in pain, vomiting, were the 3 who had Cullen Skink. 2 made a point of ordering it as they were visiting Scotland. What a sad experience to have had. Had we received a heartfelt apology, we may have been back as we've enjoyed the odd roast and pie in the past. But we shall point people in the direction of the Inn and Rhubarb and Lime in future. Not worth the risk... Oh - and although not worthy of a bad review on its own - the rest of the lunch was bang average and the owner was incredibly unwelcoming to boot. Embarrassed to have directed so many people there!

Finally stayed at the Cross Keys after meaning to do so for months! We weren't disappointed. Our room was well furnished with fantastic views over the Carse Of Stirling. After pre dinner drinks (G&Ts/pints of Bitter & Twisted) in front of the log fire in the bar we moved up the stairs to the back bar to eat. The meal was really, really good - best steak I have had in years. Excellent wine list. Prices very reasonable for what were large portions. The cooked breakfast the next morning was even better - quite possibly the best 'fry up' I've ever had. Staff were friendly and efficient - we'll be back ASAP!

Just back from the Cross Keys, and i can honestly say we had a really nice stay, Staff were all excellent and very friendly, as were the other visitors stopping in to the bar the food was first class, perfectly cooked. Room was very clean and comfortable, absolutely no complaints and we will definately return for another stay. Highly recommend.

We regularly stay here to break our journey from the Midlands to the Scottish Highlands. It?s a traditional pub with rooms - no frills but clean, comfortable rooms and the food is good. There?s usually plenty to choose from on the evening menu, including vegetarian options and breakfast (pre-order your selection the night before) is freshly cooked to order. It?s dog friendly (although we?ve never had occasion to take ours) and we?ve always found the staff to be friendly and welcoming, even when we?ve inconvenienced them by arriving late for food or - on one occasion - not until the following day due to a vehicle breakdown! There are only three rooms so it?s a good idea to book early to avoid disappointment.

I stayed for 1 night, unfortunately I arrived late and missed dinner. However, I did have a nice pint in the bar. I had a twin room, it was very comfortable, and the shower was excellent. I had a full Scottish breakfast that was very tasty. I would recommend. Kippen is also a lovely little village.

We booked our stay for July 26-27 at The Cross Keys in Kippen. Our flight was cancelled. We reached out to the B & B right after our flight was cancelled. We tried to reach them by both phone and email. I even spoke to a staff member and told them about our cancellation. She said I would get a call back, NO return phone call. This is not the way you should run a business. and treat customers. They made no attempt to work with us. DO NOT STAY at this B & B. There are a lot of other choices of hotels and B & B's in Scotland. Don't choose this one.

This is a great pub with excellent food, super service and also a great atmosphere. A nice selection of wines by the glass as well.
