I came in today with swelling, redness and clear watery discharge coming from my eye. I explained that I had been suffering severely the past three days, had woken up this morning unable to open my eye and was in pain. I explained I had my applying hot compress for several days with no change and my symptoms had been getting worse, quickly. The response I got was that they could do nothing for what they suspected was a sty and that I was to contact my GP on Monday. Given that today was Saturday, I felt I needed to be seen now, so left the pharmacy and got myself an emergency appointment with my optician. He explained that I had severe cellulites of my eyelid and was prescribed 7 days of antibiotics and if I had left it any longer, I would have needed to seek medical attention via a hospital. The pharmacy were unhelpful, seemed uninterested and paid no particular attention when i mentioned how concerned I was.

Life is largely a matter of unfulfilled expectations. Those who visit Morrisons on a regular basis know that they want, they really want, to improve the 'customer experience'. They would like us to like them. We are old enough to remember when their marketing slogan was 'More Reasons to Shop at Morrisons', but the sad truth is they have never been able to think of any. Change usually equals disappointment. We have used Morrisons in St Andrews for many years because we are able to avoid the evening crush in the Tesco Metro, and can drop into the cafe after we have loaded the shopping. We are now re-thinking this. One innovation that hasn't helped is the introduction of a two-hour parking limit, backed up by the threat of a £100 fine. We were vaguely aware of this (there are lots and lots of signs) but we carried on as normal. And then, one Friday evening, we stayed slightly later in the cafe (mainly because our fish and chips were horribly overcooked and had to be sent back) and a few days later the fine arrived in the post. Morrisons now sells the most expensive fish and chips in the country. It's official. A little while back Morrisons introduced another new menu, promising all sorts of things, and from time to time we would go for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Almost invariably we would have the 'classic Poached Eggs and Smashed Avocado', a dish that started out as good value. But disappointment is never far away. On a recent visit we were presented with rubbery eggs floating on green slime on toast that resembled charred brillo pads. We sent it back. The replacement dishes were a slight improvement; however the eggs were not actually poached but boiled. When we pointed this out, we were informed that the "cook is not allowed to make the eggs any more... they arrive in plastic bags and get heated up". The fish and chips have been pretty reliable over many years, and even when not part of an offer, have been very good value. Recently Morrisons started marketing this completely ordinary dish as 'Ultimate Fish and Chips', on the basis (apparently) that each bit of fish is hand-battered to order. It doesn't just arrive that way in a plastic bag. On our most recent visit we ordered 'Ultimate Fish and Chips' and, ultimately, it was a bit of a let-down. It was fine. It was a hundred times better than the eggs and avocado fiasco a few days earlier. But Morrisons' use of the word 'ultimate' is extremely ill-advised. As you will see from our photographs, compared to the fish and chips we bought on a previous occasion, Morrisons has shrunk the fish, Honey. The chunky and actually quite good Tartare Sauce has gone, and it is back to the white gloop in the little sachets. And the chips, while cooked properly, seem to be an inferior product. More reasons to shop at Morrisons. We have decided that, in future, we will be driving to Dundee, where there is a choice of supermarkets. Not very Green, I know.

For years I have been visiting this restaurant and at the end of my shop always looked forward to having a curry or fish and chips which are two of my favourites before heading back home. I visited the restaurant just recently and was appalled at the portion of curry I was served, it was so small and with hardly any sauce that I don?t know why the chef or the kitchen staff would have the audacity to let that plate leave their kitchen and shows to me they weren?t in the least bit concerned about offending the customer. However, the waiter who served me was extremely courteous and did apologise after I called him over and he even admitted to me that he thought the portion size was very poor before placing the plate in front of me. However, he did kindly offer me a portion of chips for free, which I accepted, although I would have preferred another plate with a decent sized portion of curry. The only other time I?ve ever complained about a meal in all those years visiting the restaurant was once when it arrived on a cold plate but I never had to complain about portion size, ever. I pray this is not a sign of things things to come else I?ll be giving this restaurant a wide berth in future.

Nipped into store for a few essentials after visiting St Andrews and decided to visit the cafe. Pleasant lady on the till although was surprised that she had to check if they could swap the lorne sausages with link for my partners breakfast. I ordered the Vegan breakfast. The prices are a lot more expensive than they used to be so I was expecting something reasonable. We were told what table to sit on and all the cutlery was out for everyone to help themselves which I wasn't happy with given the current situation. We waited for about 10 minutes before the food was brought which was fine given how busy they were. I immediately noticed that my toast for the Vegan breakfast had butter with it. I asked the server about Vegan spread and she apologised saying she forgot about it. She then brought toast with Vegan spread and confirmed that the other day she had given a full breakfast to a customer who had ordered a Vegetarian breakfast so I was lucky! I actually felt worried about the lack of understanding of dietary requirements. The breakfast was cold and uninspiring. The sausages were dry and spicy. I didn't enjoy the breakfast at all. By the time I got in I had terrible indigestion and stomach ache. I took indigestion treatment but suffered stomachache and didn't eat for the rest of the day. In the morning I had to visit the toilet numerous times and feel it can only be from eating here. I will avoid using this cafe again.

When you need the rest rooms/ toilets please take note that the ladies toilets are on the left hand side and the men's toilets are on the right hand side. Don't get caught out.

Currently in Fife after attending my friends funeral and decided to stay on for a much needed break. I forgot to check if I had enough meds to cover the period and unfortunately I didn?t. I?d phoned ahead of time to ask about an emergency supply and was told to come in.After doing my shopping I popped into the pharmacy see about meds (thyroxine). I handed over the box containing the 7 remaining tablets. The pharmacist declared that this isn?t an emergency! ?It?s only an emergency when you run out,? she said. I told her I didn?t want to run out and that I don?t have enough to cover the duration of my ?holiday?. She didn?t accept this. I asked her if I?d presented an empty box, would there have been a problem? to which she replied that I was being ?rude? and said she?d refuse to help me! She then turned to a colleague to ascertain if, in fact, their pharmacy was the closest to the location I was staying at and both decided that it wasn?t! (actually Morrison?s is NOT the closest supermarket to where I?m staying but I AM a customer and so actually didn?t mind the drive).I couldn?t help but think how unprofessional all of this was.I called my local health center for advice. They said 48 hours to prepare the prescription and then they?d post it out, so there goes 3 days at least!! Then they phoned and said because I?m on my local pharmacy?s repeat prescription service, my pharmacist would deal with the matter. He made ONE phone call to another pharmacy (Lundin Links Pharmacy, whom I thank sincerely for their help and cooperation during this very stressful situation ??) and everything was arranged for collection next day! Not even an issue!Very very poor show at Morrison?s Pharmacy! Disgusting treatment!I would NEVER completely run out of thyroxine!!! It could be the death of me!!!! 7 tablets to my mind is indeed an emergency,,, anything less and I?d have been at CRISIS level!!! How a qualified pharmacist can say I have to have run out completely before I can be issued an emergency supply is simply unbelievable and shocking!!!!

Morrisons St Andrews has served us well during the months of the pandemic. But with the background of the imminent rise in the prevalence of Covid-19 ringing in our ears, our experience at the store yesterday afternoon was disturbing. With the return of the students to St Andrews, we would expect the store to be busier. But it was frantic! Why not reinstate the brilliant arrangements we experienced back in April and May? Special shopping times for frontline workers, those over 70 and those with health issues. An orderly queue and some limit on the numbers of shoppers allowed in at a time. Basket and trolley handle sanitizing. Why have all these successful measures been binned? Until there is a vaccine, we cannot expect to return to exactly how life was before but we can do our bit to ensure that the country isn't plunged once again into a second disastrous lockdown. Why wait till that time is forced upon us? Lead the way with social distancing once more in supermarkets now!
