Pretty good atmosphere, decor, music and clean toilet, nice view to the bridges, which is all that is good about this place. The burger and the chips that came with were dry and over cooked. There was also very little sauce in the burger like they were rationing it or something. It was a bit like biting into tasteless cardboards. Wetherspoon does it better. A very small pot of chips for the price as well. Although considering the quality of the chips the lack of quantity might have been a blessing. I did not like how they sneaked a 10% service charge into the bill and we got presented with the wrong bill initially that was more than what we should be paying (reading prior reviews apparently this is not the first time of similar accidents happen).
There's potential to this place. Unfortunately this is the worst dining experience I've had this year.

Not been greeted upon arrival, wandered around restaurant while yhe staff ignored us. Asked for warm water to get the medicine, received boiling water after what seemed like eternity. The chicken burger, that also took forever to receive, was near burnt and hard. Chips stale, looks like (over)cooked way before and kept in a hot tray, or maybe recooked multiple times. Pickle has been too long out of the pickling jar and out of the fridge - warm and had an unfresh feeling to it. The place offers the cheaper price for the time of the day (£12.95), which is advertised on the menu and the website. A la carte menu the same chicken burger is £15.85. However, the first version of the bill showed £19.95. Plus mandatory service charge.
The place is a mess. Avoid.

We popped in for a quick lunch on a Monday.
Hardly any places are open on a Monday, this place was really busy.
The COCONUT CHILLI CHICKEN was served quickly and was very tasty.
The prices are reasonable.
We will be back.

A little late in posting this but my last night in Scotland and staying close back in July 2025 - a beautiful summer evening for Scotland - great service , good food and great ambiance.

Thirty knots is a delightful full service bar and restaurant at the South Queensferry port used by Holland America ships visiting Edinburgh.

The service is really good. Food is amazing. Compliments to the chef ! Prices are good as well considering how well cooked is the food! This has become our new fav restaurant in south Queensferry! They also have Cruzcampo beer at a perfect temperature ? (Only suggestion, being from Seville, where the cruzcampo is made, would be better if served in glacéd (icy) glasses ??)

Our serving companion was Ayaana. She was excellent on advice about the menu, very efficient and what she couldn't tell us she found out pretty quickly. Wonderful!!!

Had a lovely family lunch at Thirty Knots. Ayaana and Alana were very attentive and friendly. Nice restaurant.
