The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful and the Inn itself is very quaint and cosy. I just had a drink this time but will return to try out the food as the menu has tasty sounding vegetarian options. Gave a 5 star for the food going by the menu ?

We arrived for lunch and we were greeted by a lovely waitress named Kirsty she was really friendly and attentive and had great knowledge of the Menu. We had such a lovely time and Kirsty?s warm friendly attitude was definitely a contributing factor so thank you. We look forward to our next visit at the Hawes.

I thought the service was great even on a busy day, however the food was disappointing. It was clear it had been sitting under heat as all the food was dried out. The pastry on the pie was solid for me and my mum. There was not a lot of meat in the pie. I have been before and I've been happy however this time I felt it was overpriced for the quality of food we receivedParking: Parking good

I've been visiting The Hawes Inn a few times a year for many years, tonight was by far the most disappointing visit I've had. We had a long wait for the mains, when they did arrive the food had been left under the heater for so long the chicken was dry and the burger bun solid. The portion size was minimal especially considering the price. We ordered desert which took another 30 minutes, the sticky toffee pudding was good but they gave us a crumble instead of the Honey Pot. When we eventually got the honey pot there was barely any mousse and the honeycomb ice-cream was just vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately this place has gone down hill fast and I shall not be returning or recommending it to anyone. I also had a Sunday roast there not long ago and was disappointed with the tiny amount of meat on the plate. Maybe they could focus on larger portion sizes instead of redecorating every season... Further to The Owners response below it says a lot that you are defending the decor comment rather than any of the food/ service comments. We did mention the state of the mains to our server so assumed they would do better when it came to the desserts. They then made us wait an extremely long time for dessert which meant we had to change our plans for the rest of the evening. We weren't the only table that was dissatisfied during our visit

Lovely way to spend a late winter Sunday afternoon. After a chilly but bracing walk along to the harbour and back the Hawes Inn was just what the doctor ordered. Cosy and warm welcome awaited with reviving open fire and comfy surroundings. Food was delicious and the staff friendly and efficient. As a result of this and the convivial atmosphere we lingered quite a bit past the usual lunchtime. A much needed and appreciated uplifting tonic to the cold bite of winter. Had been some time since we last visited but we certainly won't leave it so long until the next time!Vegetarian options: Good variety of interesting and tasty dishes availableDefinitely a cut above the usual veggie fare offered elsewhere.
