Cannot fault anything, staff were great; very professional allows smiling and eager to please.
Food and room were great. I would like to praise Maisie in particular who was very engaging and friendly personality, in saying that we could not fault any of the staff without knowing their names they should also be praised.

We loved the Nithsdale Hotel and Sanquhar! I was fortunate to attend an Art Residency week held at the Nithsdale. We were not sure what to expect from a very small town in Southwest Scotland. What we found were incredible people and history. The hotel retains a historic nature but has been beautifully updated. We stayed in fancier places the following week, but our shower at the Nithsdale was the best of all and the bed as comfortable as any others. The hotel?s chef made everything by hand and the special Scottish Dinner they put on for us was a highlight of our trip! They went above and beyond, providing Tartan to wear, a Bagpiper, and a talented young local lad and his Dad who ?addressed the Haggis? and treated us to several Rabbie Burns poems to accompany the delicious Scottish specialties. They also have a great little pub, game room and event room ? where we created our Collage art.
We enjoyed the stunning arts center, A? The Arts, across the street, which provided a great lunch for our residency and the local knitters even made a pair of Sanquhar fingerless gloves for me overnight! The Tollbooth Museum is very well done and provides great history of the area. The Oldest Post Office in the World had great souvenirs, ordered children?s shirts in my grandkids favorite colors and even came to the hotel to let us know they were ready! The drive to Dumfries, visit to Dumfries House, the ruins of Sanquhar Castle and the local walks were fantastic and as picturesque as anything we saw touring Arran, Oban, Skye, Inverness and the Cairngorms. We highly recommend a visit to Southwest Scotland and a stay at the charming Nithsdale Hotel.

Spent a great week as part of an artist residency program. The hotel is located in the center of town just a short walk from the train station. The rooms were nice, comfortable, and well maintained and the shower had great water pressure. The staff was amazing! Warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and would gladly stay there again. They make you feel immediately at home.
Walkability: The hotel is in the center of town and you can walk to everything.

Would love to give a glowing review. But regrettably as they haven't replied to my Email and telephone message left. In regards to booking a room. This poor service doesn't give a lot off confidence in there professional standards and business plan.

The Nithsdale Hotel is a charming family run hotel located in the heart of Sanquhar. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the service is excellent, and the food in the restaurant and pub is delicious. The staff could not be more gracious or welcoming. They take pride in the hotel and as a result offer a welcoming, friendly and comfortable place to stay and enjoy.
Food and drinks: Outstanding food.
