What a creative place.

Google maps directions failed us. Instead - go up Bank Street to Portree medical center, look up to the left side of road and see a paved path through trees. Easy walk up to the circular park area. Then keep walking to the left and then left again and you will see the tower. You can climb up the tower?s stairs and get a nice view. Only a few minutes walk.

Short walk to enjoy a great view point ?

If you walk to the hospital, just inside the grounds on the left is gated road going uphill. That's your route to The Lump. Nice and easy up a tarmac road.If you are on a narrow, overgrown track going past a church or you take the Google route past a restaurant and along the shore road and up steep stairs (you do get to marvel at the wisdom of building new houses at the base of a newly carved out unstable banking), these are the beginnings and end of a narrow path that circuits about 50 feet below The Lump, with no access to the actual Lump itself.Worth doing so long as you don't have young children with you or bringing them with you if you don't like them, as there are precipitous drops the entire way.

Fantastic place to enjoy Portree Highland Games. A stunning arena with an unmatched backdrop. Really does Skye and the natural harbour proud.Very busy place during the games but the crowds are regulated.Easy accessible from the town center up a short gradient. Well worth the walk for the views.

The Apothecary's tower will be the medicinal apotheosis of your Skye experience. At the top of its winding stair I came upon two sun kissed teenagers self dispensing skunk. It's high, and if you inhale enough you may see the legendary fairy lights, While you drink in this true Skye 'high-light' the Old man of Storr pokes up on the horizon like a paternal admonitory finger.

Nice hike to this place, for the folks who rely on Google maps, sometimes it takes you to the longer walking route through the Indian restaurant. If you do so, you will find a trail at the end of the road, go up the stairs and take a left!! If you walk right it has amazing views but the lump is on the other side. The easier route is near the harbor and cathedral.

Leuke wandeling langs de rand van Portree. Mooie uitzichten en even weg uit het toerisme. Prima wandeling voordat je ergens een koffie tent induikt of een restaurant gaat bezoeken

It's a bit run down but you can walk up to the top and you have a nice view of Portree. Follow the signs to the health centre, there is a hill on the left side with a small sign saying lump. Go up the hill and the lump is on the left

Not well signposted at all but easy to access from the corner of the road leading up to Portree Medical Centre and then left up a tarmac drive through metal gate opposite the Medical Centre. Follow the tarmac drive for views from a lawned area or climb the steps on left after metal gate to get to the Watchtower, which you can climb to the tip of for views over Portree and the bay

Lovely little place. Views are beautiful from it. We found it difficult to find, but once we found it realised there was a much easier way of finding it through the high street. Although it was a lovely walk round the coast

The track to the place is so tricky with small steps and narrow lane by the hill. My wife and didn't even reach there as we had our 4- and 2-year old daughters with us, not suitable to keep going through the track.

Nice little treed park and path right by the hospital. The view from the apothecarys tower is great, even on a wet and foggy day. Likely to run across a few friendly locals walking through with their dogs. Only takes a few minutes but its a great spot to relax and see the bay from above.

We attended the highland games that were held here in August. It's a nice spot but with the big crowds it was difficult to get a good view of what was going on.The tower was a nice place to sit and have lunch out of the way from the hustle and bustle.

A nice spot to get away from the crowds on the narrow pavements of Portree. Quite a lot of benches to while away a moments quiet thought. Perhaps inspired by the spectacular views.Access through a kissing gate and a steep tarmac path. My wheelchair took the main gate and the steep hill was ok but could be a serious challenge to many with walking difficulties. My chair could not manage the steeper gravel path to the Apothacarry?s tower.A well tended litter free beauty spot.See also my review of the Portree Hotel.
