Arrived this evening during our walk we always do via the black spout circular for a drink and to feed my baby who is 8 weeks old to be told we needed to sit outside for a drink (at 7pm at night) when there was a table free inside and not reserved. I explained my daughter would get cold due to her age in the evening outside with no heaters. We were still told no after they asked management we couldn?t sit inside unless we had food.
We have always visited here for years and recommended it , however due to how rude, the lack of hospitality and how unwelcoming this experience was we will no longer be recommending here anymore or returning. Certainly not family friendly or welcoming now like it used to be.
All they want is the money from tourists now and have become greedy! It?s not even peak season yet either as this starts Wednesday!

I had a couple of pints here on Monday (28/08) after climbing Ben Y-Vrackie. Sat outside in the sun , very relaxing. I've been here many times in the last 15 years or so. The service, food, and accommodation has always been excellent. A great atmosphere in winter. Although we didn't eat today, the outside service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Brilliant evening with a couple of pints of Braveheat and a cigar. The place is so different in summer, compared with winter but just as welcoming and lovely. I miss the fire, but outside, watching the sun set was lovely. Always make time, when stalking to have and evening there!!

Great value in a lovely inn with an authentic pub, very good food, comfortable room and nice people. Pitlochry itself is worth a wee visit and is an easy walk away. Great place to stop off between Glasgow or Edinburgh and the Highlands.

This is the best and most friendly hotel you could ever wish to stay in. The food is lovely and the portions are large. The staff and service are great. Nothing is a bother to them. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Disappointed. Best service was from breakfast waitress who knew how to do her job.The barman, who had just arrived to work there a few days before was rude and cocky. I was only making polite conversation. He needs a lot of customer service training.Rooms very tired and faded. Bathroom long in need of an upgrade.I used to visit this hotel many years ago when it was a thriving place. Pity it has fallen to such low standards.

We were quite disappointed with our experience. The pub doesn't allow children in the bar which is a bit unusual. You cant order a side dish unless you are already paying for a full meal. Altogether seemed like a rip-off. Wouldn't recommend.

Lovely location - terrible food. Location draws you in ..beautiful setting, decent beers. Then the food arrives .. disappointment doesn't even begin to describe it. Cold, made without any love or skill, over priced, bland .. wish we hadn't bothered. Kitchen needs a kick up the back side. As an example my kids and burger and chips. Both arrived cold .. with a cold slice of hard cheese .. i asked if the cheese could be melted / grilled and they refused. Even though other burgers coming out all had melted cheese on them. Such a shame .. it draws you in with the setting .. and it's a lovely place to stop for a drink ... but stop there - do not order food!

A great experience had. We were there for drinks and something to eat.The service was prompt and the food was very good. Possibly a bit on the pricey side. But it is a captive market being catered for.

Stayed here for dinner. Pub itself has great potential (location, traditional, quaint, brewery), but the food (everything that gives British cuisine a bad name) and service (uncommunicative) combined with very steep prices made this a huge disappointment.

The prices were very high and the quality of the food just average. (The menu is unexciting) I ordered scampi and chips and they were not served with tartar sauce and when I asked for some was given a small sachet. A glass of below average Zinfandel wine was over £7. A burger and fries was £17, the bacon flabby and the fries were clearly cooked from a frozen packet. The service was pretty unfriendly and at the end we were sitting with dirty plates in front of us for about 25 minutes before I decided to the head to the bar and ask for service. When the dessert menu was finally given to us the dirty dishes were ignored so we had to move them to another table. I?m giving two stars for the atmospheric cosy interior and pretty beer garden.

Can't speak of the rooms. But the service and food in the restaurant/bar is honestly impressively bad.Waiters have no clue of who to serve or when. We had two different waiters come to our table and ask if they had the right table. When our order finally arrived (~45min for 7 people). I don't know where to begin. The avocado of the Buddha bowl was blacker than my morning coffee. The Angus burger is quite literally, bread, Sallad, burger, bread. No sauce, no nothing. The Garlic bread for the Macaroni and Cheese was burnt to a crisp. Can you imagine getting burnt bread in a country who's national dish is basically toast? Again, I'm not disappointed, I'm impressed. If you're just passing by, keep doing just that.
