On arrival never been to a hotel especially a 5 star where you are charged a £100 deposit pp. Lady on front desk was absolutely amazing didnt catch her name. Room was definitely showing neglect, water marks on ceiling and chipped furniture not what you expect for 5 star hotel. The tap in room also was faulty and couldn't be fixed during our stay although they did leave us bottled water, the shower pressure was terrible also they had maintenance in to fix but wasnt much better after that. Went down to have some drinks nothing on draught and bottles where expensive so ended up being recommended to go to hotel that was 5 to 10 minute walk along the road to which we did and was lovely there amazing selection of drinks and food etc. Ordered room service on 2nd night stay and have to say couldn't fault the food it was absolutely amazing. Breakfast was pricey also.

You are wise to be suspicious of reviews as some are fabricated. This one is not. We have the receipts and expenses to prove it. We were shown to a small room at the very end of the hotel with a view of a parking lot and adjacent building. Nothing of the "captivating views as standard" claimed in the brochure. The room had hair in the sink, stains on the carpet, crumbs and general disarray, and was well-worn. Not the calibre of a 5-Star hotel. We asked for second room, this one had been recently cleaned. Once in, we realized the carpet was wet with cleaning solution. The Desk Mgr slipped and almost fell in the room. We were told to wear slippers to avoid the wet. We asked for a third room. The hotel is virtually empty. This room was acceptable but by now, we were exasperated and tired. This process, full of confusion and missteps, had taken over 2 hours. We decided to leave the hotel the following morning and short-shift our two day booking. We wanted to go back to Glasgow and the Hilton where we had been treated royally. For dinner, the hotel offered us two glasses of wine as compensation for our inconvenience. The dinner was adequate but not what we expected of a celebrated chef. We discovered later that evening that they had no intention of refunding us for the second night. They intended to keep the full cost of the two-night booking despite our departure after only one night. We disputed but they refused to relent. We asked Expedia to intervene. To Expedia's credit, they did and were told the same thing. NO REFUND. This entire experience has left shaken, exploited, and questioning the 5-Star rating. We wish you a better experience than we had. Scotland is a beautiful country.Rooms: We were underwhelmed with the multiple rooms offered and ultimately left the hotel early and dissatisfied.

Lovely place. Staff very attentive helpful and friendly. And cant do too much for you.The room was cosy warm as it was minus 3 outside. Wifi uber quick. The food was very good quality indeed. I presume it was freshly cooked as it took some time to arrive. Couple of small things though. Bar prices were rather expensive . Sounds crazy but had it been less expensive we would have probably spent more with more drinks. Breakfast was buffet continental with hot cost option. Scottish was very expensive. There were 4 tables occupied and we were the only hot breakfast. Way too expensive I think they need to review this as it is a real downer. I know ir is a 5 star boutique hotel but Gleneagles do not charge extra when on B&B rate.Won't put me off going back as it was great. We may consider taking wine and snacks for the room. Not our style as we like the social aspect of the bar before dinner. I am just posting it as I see it.

Rooms well designed and decorated. However show signs of use and damage.Bathroom large, wc and sink good , bath /shower need updating.Kitchenette good fridge, microwave coffee machine and kettle.Bed and linen good ?Wifi/ TV etc goodStaff friendly and helpful. However had it been made clear on the limited dinning options we would not have booked!Ridiculous check in (4pm) and check out times (10am) so you only have the room for 18hrs maxDoesn't have any views from the rooms.Rooms: Good size with all appointments. Furniture tired sofa and tables.Bed and linen goodFood & drinks: When we stayed, very poor totally let down the whole experience.

Reception staff were lovely and attentive. Room was relatively basic, but okay - didn?t feel 5 star but was certainly pleasant enough. My main issue was with breakfast: £20 surcharge for hot food, which is ridiculously steep in the highlands. This wouldn?t have been so bad had I received a full breakfast, however the quantities were on the lighter side, with only 1 sausage, 1 slice of bacon and half a slice of black pudding. An affordable stay in a beautiful part of the country, but my recommendation is to skip the hot breakfast option.

The hotel is let down by the basics which is a shame. Nice building well located near Loch Rannoch. This hotel has been ?upgraded? with plenty of money spent on it but it?s a bit of a facade really. The internal decor has grey very on trend here!We had booked the loft suite on the ?3rd floor?. A nice room but no shower, only a bath. A small kitchenette is provided but this has limited use due to lack of crockery and cutlery or washing up liquids or tea towels for drying etc. There is a microwave, kettle, coffee pod machine and a fridge. Bottled water supplied and biscuits - although these are loose in a jar, so who knows what fingers have handled them! The microwave also dirty inside (where someone?s food had presumably ?exploded? slightly leaving residue on the ?roof?, the microwave clearly not cleaned routinely). The bathroom, although a good size, has a too small heated towel rail which wasn?t large enough to manage two sets of our towels over the duration of the 4-night stay. The bathroom was also very cold and never warmed up adequately. In fact, the bedroom was generally difficult to heat throughout our stay. We reported this to reception who asked if they could check the heaters were set properly. Obviously, we had set the wall-mounted electric heaters and left them permanently on (the room has no integrated air conditioning/fan/heating), but we let them check the room anyway. No further feedback from any staff on this matter and no offer of supplemental heating was provided which remained a disappointment for the trip. Having a cold bedroom and bathroom really isn?t very pleasant and the weather, although turning cold, wasn?t actually freezing for much of our stay. It was very windy on occasion and the room suffered with drafts and noise from the wind quite often. The bed, at least, was comfortable with good pillows and we didn?t experience any noise intrusion from other rooms or guests. Robes and slippers provided for comfort. The loft suite also has restricted head height/space which for taller people would be an ongoing issue and is something to be aware of.Leaving the ?do not disturb? sign on the room door, we were still disturbed by housekeeping who wanted to service the room! The room also suffered from a bit of guest wear & tear with some staining of the carpets and the sofa - being light fabrics this is hard to avoid but will mean constant ongoing maintenance to be on top of these problems. The light coloured walls also have some marks, they just need a bit of paint to refresh. There was an issue in the bathroom with a blocked sink, this was resolved by maintenance.Moving on to further staffing issues, the attending team for dinner and breakfast need more training in guest engagement. The experience at dinner - we only dined one night because it was just hard work - was also akin to being at Fawlty Towers with dithering decisions making the experience more amusing and frustrating rather than engaging. A lack of understanding of menu options, queries, tending to one?s needs etc made it uncomfortable rather than pleasant.Breakfast equally a bit hit & miss. For example, asked for white toast - received brown! The room rate includes a continental breakfast with cooked options at a surcharge, for example about £20 for a cooked full Scottish breakfast which seems steep (you can get a cooked breakfast at the cafe over the road for half that price!).Throughout the stay, the continental breakfast items looked like they had been left out throughout the week - considering they?re left in room temperatures (and the dining area is very warm, ironically) we didn?t trust the meats for example. The yogurts felt warm too, certainly not chilled. We didn?t touch them after a few days, relying on toast and cereal which is a shame.Overall, the feeling of disappointment marred the stay and it?s difficult to imagine we?d return. There was also a lot of confusion re: their electric vehicle charger(s) and what rate their tariff is set at for guest use; it became confusing and I didn?t bother with it!

Staff are great but definitely not the 5 star experience. Just come back from a weekend away. We picked this hotel as it was advertised as 5 star and we wanted a special place to stay whilst exploring the Highlands. Initial check in was fine, we were asked to pay a £100 pn security deposit which was returned at the end of the stay. We were in 209 classed as their superior double. Overall room was lifeless and it needed some attention. Chipped furniture, marks on walls and floor with a showerhead that needed replacing not what you would expect from a 5 star place. Please see the photos. Then we move onto breakfast, which I'm afraid to say was quite disappointing. Bearing in mind it's a 5 star Continental (if you want hot food it's an additional £15- £20 per dish) there was one cheese (Swiss from a packet) one meat option and one bread option with cereals served in big bowls. Bearing in mind we are in the Highlands which produces some of the best Brie and Salmon in Scotland, I was surprised not to see any local produce reflected (this even includes the milk, tea and coffee. Homemade shortbread was a nice touch). Overall we expected a 5 star experience and didn't get this which is frustrating, and observing some other guests we weren't alone.Rooms: Needs improvementFood & drinks: Breakfast disappointing, limited options.
