We went for lunch with a couple of friends. The inside is small with only one table for 4 people and was packed full when we arrived at 11:45. Table for four became available fairly quickly. The soup was good (carrot and curry, but it was very light on the curry). They offer gluten free bread options for sandwiches, which is nice as my husband is gluten intolerant. The scones and sweet treats look amazing and go quickly as they are fresh baked. I would definitely recommend this for tea or lunch options. Hopefully they?ll be able to expand the dining area soon as I think it is a great success.

So glad the Buck tearoom is now open under new management. Excellent food and lovely staff and it can only get better once the last renovations are completed when more items are added to the menu.

Lovely new owners from August 2025! Great range of scones and cakes. Lovely soups and amazing sandwiches. This is a great tearoom and will be a tremendous attraction in Straiton for years to come.

Called in en route to Loch Doon; what a find. Had the best cappuccino I?ve had in years, if ever - and I am a fussy mare re my coffee. It was so good I fetched my travel cup from the van to take one away. This is a must-stop for the natureloving-hippie-pagan-artists among us. The atmosphere is tranquil, friendly, relaxed and comfortable. Beautiful pottery and artwork is on display to buy, and peaceable traditional fiddle and pipe tunes play gently. The owner was happy to shoot the breeze too; nothing felt rushed and impersonal - a lovely change.
I?ve a reasonably-sized van which can be problematic to park in small towns sometimes; here I was able to slot in right across the road, outside what I think was a village hall without causing obstruction or offence.
Having recently lost my husband and trying to find my way alone, I felt a huge affinity to this beautiful little haven of peace.

Taken to The Buck by enthusiastic friends. And they were right... small cozy café with super good coffee and tea, and delicious cakes. And certainly important, nice and attentive owners. We thought it was definitely worth a visit!!!

Stumbled across this place while in Dumfries and Galloway. Coffee and cake are excellent, with good GF options.

A small village cafe right on the street. Lovingly furnished. Cake is very tasty. Coffee excellent. When the weather is good you can sit outside and enjoy the sun. Owner is very friendly and attentive. A visit is recommended.

Lovely cafe nestled in the quaint village of Straiton.
We received a very friendly welcome.
The coffee was excellent, the owner is coffee enthusiast apparently. We had some superb cakes: a Dutch apple cake and a nut & ginger fruit loaf. The cakes are all baked by the owners, who are clearly very skilled.
The cafe also sells some locally produced arts and crafts.
Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.
Dogs welcome.
