First time at the Airds in Port Appin for a New Year's celebration. The location is a gem. The staff and manager were exemplary - attentive, professional and very responsive and helpful. The rooms, lounge, fireplaces and dining room were a real slice of west coast Scotland - lovely. The food was delicious. Loved the walk down to the pier and around the point....haste ye back ...we will!

I have one word for this "apparently new Airds" that is masquerading as a shadow of its former self, DISAPPOINTING. I have been staying at Airds for almost 16 years now. I did not visit the hotel for past 3 years as I was living abroad, finally decided to visit again this year, and I was appalled. It is no longer run as a luxury institution. Agreed, I did not book a room for stay, just went in for food, but that was enough to tell me all I had to know. The bistro style seating and decor is not modern or chic as the management would hope, it appears poor and tasteless. The ridiculous prices for food I can only call "okay" are exactly that, ridiculous. Never before had I been more disappointed with something to this extent. Airds now seems like a money making facade not a luxury hotel. NEVER RETURNING.

NO CHILDREN ALLOWED IN RESTAURANT -Not one to typically complain, but was just met with a very blunt (albeit apologetic) employee in a completely empty restaurant. When asked for a table for 4, was told she had to double check. Completely fine! When I specified I had children. She said they didn?t accept children at all. What? It?s bizzare for me to even hear that. Nowhere is this listed on the website before attempting to dine here. Abysmal lack of display of information. I don?t mind rules. But please make sure people know of them on your website at least.

A very last minute find thus due to having to stay in the area due to the weather.Firstly, the hotel is very welcoming, and the staff are top-notch.The lounge area is comfortable with plenty of seating, and given the weather open fires too which just add that homely feel to the place. Similarly, the dining room has plenty of room for guests to feel very 8.Bedrooms are nice with good quality beds, plenty of storage for your items, and a large bathroom. The only very slight letdown is that the wallpaper is beginning to peel in some places, and the ceiling has some wear marks, particularly above where the kettle is and in the bathroom - just wear and age really but putting this back to a high standard should be fairly easy and I'd recommend that course of zction.Overall, it is a smashing place with friendly staff at a reasonable cost - if this way, give it a try.

We stayed here sort of by default - most places in the the surrounding area were fully booked - and we liked it so much. The staff was really lovely and they had a smoked fish and egg breakfast that my husband and our daughter said was one of the best things they ate in all of Scotland (and we ate well!). The rooms are nothing special, but comfortable. The shower had good water pressure and there is a pretty lawn out front.

Beautiful small hotel with amazing views in a peaceful setting. We had a wonderful stay, with the restaurant being a particular highlight. Dinner was very special, with friendly service and the best food of our trip in Scotland. Breakfast was also spectacular, even the haggis was delicious.

We stayed in room 5 for one night in early September 2023, and dined in the restaurant. What we expected was a comfortable restaurant with rooms, in a nice location, with excellent cooking. And that's exactly what we got. The price and the product were in line with the many other places we've stayed at in this sector of the hospitality market. I don't often write reviews but our experience was so at odds with some recent adverse reviews on Trip Advisor that I've made an exception. We enjoyed our stay, we would have no hesitation in booking again if we are in the Oban area, and we have already recommended Airds to some of our friends.

WARNING Clearly any high ratings are from a time passed long ago. Perhaps even the glasses thrown across the front lawn and shattered table was indicative of what the inside would present.. The place was filthy. Moldy dirty floor - carpet none the less. There was no service. No one responded. The tub was backed up - the staff didn?t care. There was black mold on the fixtures and tile. Relais Château you dropped the ball here and we won?t use you for booking as this experience was was AWFUL. We saw this same sort of comment for a New Zealand property and we know to RUN. It was such we were scared to touch anything for filth. This place was so bad they gave less to eat each day for breakfast. We travel 80 % of the year so we have a sense of expectations. The chef was decent for the evening and hopefully he can end up in a more worthy place.

Stayed just for one night. Loved it. Never been before (so glad I didnt read some of the reviews which seem to be comparing the hotel to what it was like 30 years ago, and yes everywhere had more staff then!). Our room (room 1) was lovely, well decorated, fantastic views of the loch, great bathroom, very comfy bed and good facilities. And a real bonus for us that they take dogs. We already had lunch so did not eat in the restaurant but breakfast was good. On prices - we have noticed an increase everywhere so not cheap (for us) but the night before we spent over £150 on a Premier Inn (nothing wrong with that place either!). Staff very welcoming, and would highly recommend. Would definitely stay again if in this stunning part of the world.

I too have been staying at the Airds for over 30 years. We were just there in May of 2022. Its not the same place. Unrecognizable. The new owners ruined it completely. It lost all its Scottish charm. I could have been in a Motel 6. The dinner was fine, but 95 Pounds per person was outrageous. Its not a Michelin Star by any means. The dinning room used to be warm and inviting, now its cold and depressing. In the past I worked for a Scottish company and still have friends there. They too are sadden on the decline of this once iconic hotel. Now I know why its no longer a Relais Chateaux ...

Unfortunately water leaked throughout the night from the ceiling, this clearly had happened before as there were water stains from previous episodes. So after a night of 3 buckets and a soggy suitcase of clothes I decided to call it a day as they could not give me a room of equal standard. I was assured I was going to get a refund but 2 months later it has been denied. It is very short sighted on their part as I was planning another trip for a weeks stay, very dissappointed, speaks volumes about their ethos.

DRUG USAGEDuring my time working at Airds hotel, I was overworked, and belittled into doing extra jobs, to save management needing to do. Management consuming cocaine whilst working, and taking bottles of prosecco and champagne home daily, which I was then asked if was my, by the certain member of management. I had issues with my pay, and have been refused to be paid for the hours I worked, as my written down hours timesheet was apparently lost. I have been in contact numerous times, as they had not paid me any holiday days, or tips, after doing 70+ hour weeks. All emails I have stored, and have been in touch with assistance. Management drinking out of guests bottle of red wine, and then serving, and also serving wine that was acknowledged as Corked, but told to serve anyway as they would not notice the difference. Left alone in building on 2nd shift so certain members could go to pub to drink, same as every night I worked there. Managment Members drunk, in the kitchen during early hours of morning. Will not mention names, due to slander. This is a route that I wanted to avoid, but with the way I have been shown no gratitude, after giving all the hard work and respect, shows a poorly run business, and adhering to no safety or licensing laws. The usage of Class A drugs is massive, both during and after work.My Pay was less than half of what was expected. And I have yet to hear back regarding my pay from accounts. I will follow up at a later date if gets resolved.

A hotel located in a nature reserve in a rural area. Close to all routes and treks. The hotel is immersed in vegetation as if it came out of a picture. The hotel is well maintained, beautiful, very clean. The service is courteous and fast. There is parking with 2 car charging stations for electric vehicles!!! The first hotel I've seen in Scotland with electric car charging stations. The room is spacious, clean, nicely decorated. The shower is spacious and clean. The bed is big and spacious. The prices are reasonable for Scotland - the hotel feels and looks very luxurious. There are many hiking trails and attractions nearby. The food is excellent at the level of a Michelin star, it is recommended to order dinner in a special atmosphere.Rooms: Spacious, clean and equippedWalkability: There are near the hotelFood & drinks: Delicious

Dirty room with mold non functional tub, mouse droppings, no service, no amenities and the property was run down. Breakfast had lesss food over 3 days and was half by the end.The food was fine at dinner and the chef should be at a better place as this place is not Relais quality and we won?t likely book with them at another property because of Aires.
