We have been coming here every year in August since it opened and tonight was the worst it has been. The premium priced 'steak' burgers were akin to two frozen Birds Eye re constituted meat. Terrible. When we altered staff to our concerns they agreed with us...... but said it was due to suppliers. Then don't serve them!!!!! Absolutely ruined our night out. Service was good, staff were good. But obvious cost cutting resulting in less than burger van standards is not a good look. Alas we will not be returning for food.

Lovely place with a good range of options and a 'buzzy' atmosphere. Service friendly and well meaning but needs a bit of polish.

We had a large family gathering here. Despite this, the servers were spot on with drinks and orders. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was incredible. I had the daily gourmet burger and I can honestly say it was the best Ive ever had. Prebooking is advised as this is a very popular place

Came for a family dinner and had a lovely night. Staff are faultless- super friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was great with nice live music that wasn?t overly loud.
We had some bread and hummus and olives for starters and I had the gnocchi for main which was absolutely delicious. Had a raspberry margarita which was great as well. The lamb and chicken mains also looked amazing and such huge portions!
Can?t recommend enough, will definitely come back if in the area again!

Have been to The Herringbone many times over the years, but the last two visits have been disappointing. Latest visit - the Salt and pepper crispy squid was clearly frozen bought in, awful quality, not at all crispy and no hint of seasoning, the harissa sauce accompaniment was also pretty unpleasant. My husband ordered the curry, the cauliflower was still hard and there was barely any chicken - he also said the curry sauce tasted much like the harissa and not at all like a curry sauce. I ordered the fish finger sandwich with upgraded truffle and parmesan fries, this plate was really good.
A major issue was that there were so many flies in the restaurant which were constantly circling our food and buzzing around us while we were trying to eat. The doors were left open the whole time. We did comment on this to the waiter and he acknowledged it was a big issue. The restaurant needs to resolve this and not leave the doors open inviting more flies in. We will not be returning any time soon after this experience.

Dog friendly, fairly typical bar menu, food good but not great. Service got better as more staff arrived.

Great service, food, and live music, all combined to make a perfect atmosphere for an evening meal.

Sally, our waitress made our experience delightful, the best.

Herringbone really surprised me. Having been to Scotts in South Queensferry, which is owned by the same people, I thought it'd be similar.
The food vibe was similar but I think it was better and fresher here as it's a small setup.
I had the scallops and they were delicious! The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were really excellent.
I'd come back to Herringbone before going back to Scotts (the difference is about an hour's extra drive).

We came in here after a cute walk around the town. The two gentlemen working couldn?t have been more gracious. The decor is adorable and chic. If you?re looking for delicious drinks and great convo on your trip, go here.

The seared steak strips with rocket and Parmesan was very good; the fish was not quite so good. The main problem here however is not the food but rather the poor acoustics. The ambient music is not overly loud but nevertheless a little too loud and conversations from all around seem to drown out the conversation at your own table. On this occasion I was glad to get out. Next time I'll try a different table!

Really very poor service - we were just there for drinks but on all 3 occasions when our glasses were empty we had to get a waiters attention and ask for a drink, although our table was right beside a busy area which waiters walked past every few seconds nobody asked once if we wanted another drink. The last drink we ordered directly from the manager who then forgot our order completely so we asked for the bill & left. A shame, it used to be a good spot.

This review is being written mainly because the Herringbone Team have not replied to my request for an explanation.
So, a week ago, I took 3 old friends to Herringbone for their first visit. I've been loads of times and always enjoy it.
Starters, great.
My 3 friends, main courses great.
My main was the Gourmet burger. Advertised up on the blackboard as Venison and Haggis burger with cheese and a Cranberry mayo plus salad and chips.
As far as I could tell it was a beef burger with loads and loads of bacon. Plus the cheese and mayo. I complained as quietly as I could and the waitress whipped the plate away then brought it back a minute later. She told me that chef mixes it all together.
I've had many a venison burger. Loads of haggis. This resembled neither.
But, the BACON!! Just as well I wasn't averse or allergic. So I ate it and enjoyed it. BUT.
Come on Herringbone Team. What are you thinking?

The service was really good, really nice waiters. I had the mussels (which comes with a tiny piece of bread) and they were amazing but then the lamb was really dry and bland and the couscous type of salad is really cold so bare that in mind. I must say the burger of the day was super good. Overall it was a bit expensive for what it is but the waiters were lovely.
