“had a weekend away at Balavil, charming hotel with cosy bar and restaurant. service from all staff impeccable. really talk to the guest and recommends places to go to. their restuarant serves very good food. we had dinner there and the starter haggis pakoras were absolutely delicious. easy drive to aviemore and other places of interest. definitely worth a visit back”

“Fantastic local hotel in the Cairngorms. The owner and his wife were lovely and made us feel welcome. The bar was busy on a Thursday night with two groups of walkers all eating the great Cullen Skink and food from the kitchen, We had Katsu curry and hunters chicken, both were so good. Our room No1 was large and had a massive bed, nicely decorated and a huge bathroom with a bath. Breakfast was a full fry up with a good selection of fruit and cereals. “We had a ground floor room with ensuite walk-in shower. Tea, coffee and biscuits were replenished daily and there was a hairdryer and tv in the room. The bed was a bit hard for us on our first night there, but on request, housekeeping very quickly supplied a soft mattress topper and additional pillows.Breakfasts: Cereals and fruit were self service. Full Scottish breakfasts, toast, tea and coffee were served to the table.Three course evening meals were served to the table. There was a good choice of starters, main courses and desserts and we enjoyed our meals there.We would stay there again.”

“What a refreshing experience! The host could not have been more helpful. Recommendations for local restaurants and pizza takeouts, and even set us up with his personal laptop so that we could watch a rugby game (the bar TVs were set to Football and we werent going to try compete with the football). Good value drinks at the bar. Room was comfortable (family room) and well appointed. Definitely an option when up in the Aviemore/ Newtonmore area.”
