Delightful lunch in a gorgeous, light-filled sun room. We booked lunch here after our falconry experience, and we all enjoyed our sandwiches and lemonades. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food despite the reviews.

One of the best meals I have had ever. We are family of 4. Two of us has Pork and other had steak. Resultant quiet but greatest meal.

My husband and I have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner at The Orangery during our stay at Dalhousie. I recommend the Fish Dogs and parmesan fries. They were delicious. As well as the eggs benedict with haggis.

We had a lovely meal and all the food was delicious. Ricardo made the occasion extra special as he was both attentive and friendly. Thank you for a memorable meal! Excellent!

Complete waste of money. My partner and I had a dinner reservation here and once we arrived the restaurant was completely empty. No customers, no wait staff, absolutely no one. We waited for quite a while before we went to the Dungeon restaurant and they said we would be seated there. I was confused why no one informed us earlier but pretty happy about it because I really liked the Dungeon anyway. Our main waiter was friendly but the young guy who brought out our drinks was horrendous. He came out with our drinks and absolutely STARED at me with the most creepy look and didn't look away. Then as he walked away he turned around and stared at me again. We took a sip of our scotch and it was APPLE JUICE ??. We told our main waiter and we all had a little laugh about it and he apologized and said they put apple juice in the display bottles. Then it hit me. How long had it been sitting there not refrigerated? Weeks? Months? Years? Oh goshThen there was the food. The duck was insanely dry and overcooked. It was almost inedible but I was hungry so I figured I may as well eat it. My partner's fish was also horrible and overcooked. Both were a complete waste of money and I really regret eating there. The only good thing about it all was the young main waiter we had was really nice and I didn't want to bother him with all of the food issues

Our family booked a table for dinner at the Orangery. The food was good, the staff were absolutely fantastic, very helpful, and kind. The castle is stunning. We all had a great experience!

We were told that the lamb shank was unavailable. It?s a set menu with only 4 main course choices. At £30 for two courses & £35 for 3 courses you would hope that an alternative would?ve been provided. The choices left were a basic pasta dish, fish & chips & a burger and chips. We went for the burger which was unexciting and served warm. It wasn?t a pleasant eat at all. If I?d paid weatherspoon prices it would have been passable. Wee things like the condiments were the cheap sachets of ketchup etc served in a wee bowl. Something you would expect in a greasy spoon. The restaurant itself lacked atmosphere. It was empty. Lighting was poor. It felt like you were sitting in someone?s basic conservatory or a warehouse. The temperature was not uncomfortably cold but could?ve done with being warmer. The puddings were average. Chocolate mouse, was ok & the banana cake was bland. We decided on only two courses as we could tell before we even ordered that we?d be disappointed. I am not hard to please but this was a very poor meal. To improve the experience would take very little. If staying at the hotel I?d suggest having your evening meal elsewhere. Service was ok. A very young lad served us. He looked like a fish out of water. I?ve two teen sons & they would probably be similar, but the restaurant lacks so much that an outgoing and welcoming staff would help to lift what felt like a very flat evening. Breakfast was better. And the orangery felt very different. Food was ok. The space felt more welcoming.

Very poor slow service, we were the only ones having lunch in the Orangerie. Trying to grab the attention of the servers proved difficult, although there were three standing a few yards away, and not looking in our direction even though we were seated at the table closest to them. We had to call out to order drinks. And then it took forever for the food to arrive. It was a pity. As it is such a lovely setting.

Quite quiet. But nice

The food was ok, the selection a bit poor, but the staff was very good. Particularly one lady who was very polite and sociable, she told us some stories about the castle and how to find a hidden passage!

We live locally and tend to eat here as a special treat. Nice to see the orangery has had a fresh coat of paint and chairs have been newly upholstered as it was a bit tired looking last time we visited. Not sure about the plastic orange plants though. The menu has changed and felt it was a tad pub grub also kids portion was rediculously large especially for the three year old we had with us. Our order took far too long to appear which was strange as only two other couples dining. Lots of young staff who spent a great deal of time looking bored as they had nothing to do. It was a very hot day when we visited and the restaurant was unbearably hot. They really need to invest in some blinds. There was no windows or doors open. Overall very disappointing visit.

We came as part of a spa package - despite the restaurant being almost empty we were squeezed onto a table right by the door instead of by the windows and the lovely view. Everything ordered took a very long time to arrive - for some reason we repeatedly watched waiters delivering dishes to small tables in the corridor outside the restaurant and leaving them there for anything up to to ten minutes before taking them to diners while guests and staff walked back and forth past them. There were several occasions when there were no staff at all in the restaurant for extended periods of time, meaning that customers arriving were standing around confused before eventually giving up and seating themselves. The staff member who seemed to be in charge continuously coughed and hawked up phlegm without covering her mouth, and another had what we were pretty sure was blood on her collar.

I have made a reservation for lunch for my partners birthday. This place has a potential as location is beautiful however waiters and waitresses require basic service training to start with. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived, two small tables were occupied. We were sitted at the table just next to the entrance, cushions on chairs were dirty. We placed the order. Water for the table arrived fast however there was far longer wait for 2 glassess of Proseco which arrived just before starters. Portion size on a small side, visually not appealing, ordinary taste. I had a burger for the main course which was chewy, knife was very blunt so had a hard time cutting food into pieces. One part of the bun was barely warm, the other was cold as being taken out from the fridge a minute before serving. We asked for sauces which were literally droped directly on a table in single use pouches. Not the most polite. Nobody ever checked on our table even once, nobody cleared out plates post main meal or asked if we would like more drinks or desserts. I had to attract attention to one of the girls to ask for coffee and the bill to be served at the same time. I asked for 2 flat white coffees, we got a coffee more reminding cappucino and no bill. Coffee was served on a table where still dirty dishes were present post main course, empty water glassess and empty proseco glassess. Nothing was cleared up. We finished coffeess and I went to the counter to pay. I had to wait for a print out, paid and then I heard from the waitress "that now I can go". No manners whatsoever. I do not recommend this place.

Where to start... Staff were untrained. They were all young, clearly hadn't been there that long & didn't really know what they were doing. They also lacked manners. And there was no one senior to supervise. We'd paid for afternoon tea as part of a package deal with the spa (I recommend the spa), one of the staff asked us without a preamble if we wanted the bill! No: "how was your afternoon tea?, Everything ok?" He walked straight up to the table & asked us if we wanted the bill. Another staff also said to us: "Well you can just leave then" after she'd asked us if we wanted anything else. The staff were very unprofessional. The cups were also dirty. The food was ok. Standard afternoon tea. The profiteroles were different & stood out. The variety of teas available was refreshing.I definitely won't be going back.
