I stayed at the Crown Hotel for one night for work earlier this week. From the moment I checked in the service was outstanding.I had an evening meal within the bar. The staff were friendly, efficient and the food was exceptional. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and the locals were great too.The room was clean well stocked with everything you need. In particular I was impressed with the amount of tea/coffee making supplies provided which for someone with a sweet tooth such as myself made my experience that bit better. The pre ordered breakfast was fantastic and the service from staff was once again excellent. I travel a lot with work and found the experience at this hotel was better than I've received in most hotels. - Thank you for a wonderful experience, ill be back.

I came into have a drink and a bite to eat. The food was absolutely gorgeous. I had chicken stuffed with haggis and wrapped in crispy bacon with creamy mash and vegetables. It was flippin lovely.. I could have eaten it again. The staff were friendly and attentive. It's also dog friendly and my dog got a big bowl of water and a comfy seat. Highly recommended

Went in on Sunday evening about 5:30-5:45, for a meal (didn't book), we were told we wouldn't be seated till 7:30-7:45, unfortunately that was a bit to long to wait. As we were leaving we asked a member of staff if he could recommend somewhere else we could go to, he asked us to wait & he would find us a table, as he wouldn't turn anyone away & proceeded to find a us a table. 100% Customer Service from this guy, who's name is JACK. Well done young man. Also great table service staff were pleasant, friendly & helpful. Food was beautifully presented & excellent. Will definitely be back, ( remembering to book first), highly recommend a visit if your passing through Newton Stewart.

I'm giving it a 5* because the staff were so lovely and the food was very good. The bedroom was strange, with a storage cupboard and combi boiler in it.The bathroom was grubby but the shower worked well. The bedrooms and the upper part definitely need attention. The bed was comfortable and Tea making facilities are a bonus.

Where do I start? On arrival there was no one at the reception desk but there was a bell and I rang this several times before starting to tour the ground floor. I went into the empty bar and empty restaurant and called out to try to attract attention. Eventually I pushed the kitchen door open and called in there. Someone came out and was followed by another who told us where to park. We then took lunch in the bar and, after that, checked in. We were told that our room was upstairs and was number 9. We took our luggage up and opened to discover the smallest room we have ever found and certainly not one of the 8 rooms illustrated on the hotel's website. This room had a small double bed. It had a small wardrobe containing 3 hangers! The bathroom just about managed to accommodate the necessary furnishings. The bath was seriously chipped and the bath panel severely cracked! There were no tissues and no beakers. We thought to make the best of it and decided to rest after our 4 hour journey. As we dropped off there was the most horrendous noise to awaken us. This was the extractor fan from the kitchen. Under normal circumstances we could have closed the windows but, on a very hot day and in a very small room, this was not an option! It really was unbearable and we got up to go out. We alerted staff to our concern and were told that all rooms were booked and we could not be moved. As a parting shot, we were told we could have a drink at the bar! The fan stopped at 9.00 pm and we were able to open the windows and, eventually, get to sleep. After having been out on our second day we returned to find that the bed had been "made" but the undersheet had not been smoothed out, the bin had not been emptied and there were neither tea nor biscuits replenished. The next day the bin was emptied and refreshments replenished but the undersheet still needed to be straightened! This hotel would have scored less than 2 on every aspect of the scoring on Four in a Bed! On leaving I thought I would give the receptionist the courtesy of sharing my feedback prior to my submitting it. There was no one on reception on my departure!

Was staying in Room 12. Could have done with a pogo stick to see out the window. And.....do NOT dare get drunk or the wallpaper will finish you! Food in restaurant was really good and super friendly staff.

Just had the Sunday carvery and it was delicious. £14.95 for one trip to the carvery. The plates aren't the largest so you do look like a bit of a gannet with it piled high with what's available. I especially liked the stuffing. Well worth it. Staff lovely, we hadn't booked and it was quite busy but got fitted in. Recommend booking.
