This was our second visit this year. First was 14 Feb 24 for Valentines Dinner. All aspects of the Newton Mearns Restaurant has gone down hill, from tired looking decor, dis-interested staff, average tasting food & dress code not adhered to - almost everyone dining in tracksuits, jeans and trainers. On the 14th Feb our starter was overcooked and on the 25th Mar the prawn cocktail & avocado starter was tasteless, the fries were rubbery, mildly warm and back heated (not freshly cooked despite the 30 min wait for the steak). After the wait, the Chateaubriand steak unfortunately was okay but nothing special. The car park needs a good tidy and the loose block work on the path on the way in needs repairing. 2 out of 2 disappointing visits. Sadly we won't be revisiting.

Nothing was great. The restaurant was ridiculously hot. We waited for over 40 minutes for our 1st drinks. Our starters were dumped on our table, not centered in front of us, by a young girl. Our steaks were okay, but far from what I would expect, the fries were dry and tasteless, the beef dripping tasted watered down. My Daughter's Burger was over cooked, dry and rather burnt on the outside. When our waiter cleared the table he asked if everything was okay, I said no, the burger was burnt and dry, nothing was done about that, no 1/2 price or removal of the item from the bill. The bill was £191, I had a voucher for £70, so the adjusted bill was £121, I told the waiter to make it £135, when I got home and checked my bank account and saw I was charged £155... £20 over. I phoned the restaurant and a member of staff refunded me the extra £20. As the service and food was way below par, I was never going to tip 10% = £20, so when I got the adjusted bill I tipped £13, 10% of that bill. How anyone would think I would tip £33 on either £120 or £190 is very odd, so to have entered that amout without double checking was wrong.I have been going to the M&C Newton Mearns for over 20 years, as we used to visit when it was the Osprey, but at these prices and low quality service and food, it will be a long time before I consider visiting again.
