A beautiful Scottish, historic hotel in the most beautiful Scottish location. We really enjoyed our stay there a few years ago and are looking forward to a next time because that will definitely come!I was very fascinated by the toast machine; I had never seen anything like it.We found our nearby tour particularly enchanting, which led through a forest where you could always see small, hand-made fairy houses hanging in the trees along the way.Rooms: The room was clean and nice, we felt very comfortable.

We have had a lovely two night stay at the Nethybridge Hotel with our small dog. Plenty of parking outside and on driving up it?s got the unmistakable facade of a beautiful Victorian hotel. Our first thought from the outside is this hotel looks a bit tired in places but is full of character and overlooking immaculately maintained gardens which are lovely to walk around, even in February. We were greeted at reception on arrival and promptly taken through the check in process. All the staff were so helpful throughout and they couldn?t do more to make our stay more perfect. They even took time to share some of the hotels history told us about some famous guests like Cary Grant and Mae West. All staff we met were so polite and great with our dog. Natalie in the bar even came out with a water bowl and treats for her when we were eating and made such a fuss over her which she loved. As you walk through to main staircase and up to your room there are clear areas of charm mixed with unavoidable wear and tear, some from more recent times and other signs of historical changes somewhere throughout the hotels 125 year history. Some easy fixes like cleaning up old paint drips on windows and straightening lampshades in and a lick of paint in communal areas could make this hotel feel more loved but can imagine with the high ceilings this is likely harder than it sounds. The wear and tear didn?t bother us though and in a way added to the hotels character and charm. We stayed in room 104 which was immaculately clean, spacious and warm offering great views of the countryside. The room cosmetically was tired in places but again nothing that bothered us. Large bay windows with high ceilings, tea and coffee facilities which was topped up each morning and a en suite with shower over the bath and included hand soap and shower gel.We did the dinner bed and breakfast option. Because we had our wee dog with us we were able to eat with her in the bar or large guest lounge opposite reception. We had our evening meal in the bar which had a set menu of three choices from starters, main and dessert. The following morning we had our breakfast in the guest lounge which we found more relaxing and quiet. Greg was our waiter on both occasions and he was incredibly attentive, polite and delivered excellent customer service. All food was lovely and well cooked although the grilled cauliflower would have been better with a sauce. We highly recommend the Nethy Burger and the Fish & Chips. Our favourite space was the large lounge area opposite reception that was awash with country charm. Big comfy sofas and armchairs with two beautiful open fireplaces, piano and games. This area has a fun Murder Mystery Night written all over it and if they?ve never done one they?ve missed a trick. If you?re looking for an immaculate, modern hotel then this place is not for you. If however you want a hotel that has oodles of history and character that is clean, spacious has excellent customer service with a range of bar and restaurant menus for food and drink then like us, you?ll love it. It?s a 3 star hotel and doesn?t pretend to be it?s not so don?t expect a 5 star hotel at 3 star prices. To all the reception staff and Greg and Natalie in the restaurant thank you for a lovely stay. We can?t wait to come back.

Shabby, tatty Hotel. Curtains in our en suite ripped and shredded. No pillow protectors and pillows ripped and extremely well used. Waitress in dining room couldn't see through hair in front of face and shoved our plates across table. Breakfast cold and congealed. Paid £72 for our stay and would not recommend to anyone to pay any more than that as it really is not worth it. Owners, clearly not reinvesting and upgrading hotel, which is a shame as its in a lovely location with beautiful walks and scenery on its doorstep and away from the more commercialised/touristy Aviemore but if that is your thing its only 10 mins awayRooms: Need tlc and money spent to upgradeFood & drinks: Breakfast dreadful but dinner OK. Some staff in need of training

We stayed for new year. Meal times were a bit peculiar. We were required to eat at the same time ,orders were taken for food but when courses were brought out they came one choice at a time and the table staff wandered around asking who ordered what , even my nye dinner was offered to 4 people before it came to me and when my partner ordered something different it arrived well before mine. Everybody had to finish each course before plates were cleared, noisily scraped and stacked onto trays in the dining room, not a good look imo , before the next course came out. More like the school canteen from my youth than a hotel restaurant. We got fed up and skipped desserts as we got tired of waiting.Walkability: Lovely walks and drives close by.

It was a delight to spend Christmas here. Everywhere beautifully decorated, lovely food and very friendly staff. Just sit back and enjoy! The added bonus was snow which made the surrounding countryside so lovely. We loved the view from our window. Lots of walks on the doorstep.

We were guests with a tour group in August. Great location, traditional house. We were thrilled by the very beautiful property and the ?renovation backlog? didn?t bother us at all. We really enjoyed the Scottish charm, a bit like traveling back in time. Everything was clean, service was very friendly and everything was available at breakfast. Recommended. If you don't want this, you should stay in faceless and historyless standard hotels in big cities. Then we Scotland lovers have more space. Sometimes you get the impression that all that's being done is complaining from people who think they're the norm.

Just been for a turkey and tinsel weekend 10th to 13th November 23. Staff are really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a good hearty Scottish fair, the evening meals where excellent although some people might say that the portion size could of been bigger. I personally thought, for what we paid for the weekend it was value for money.Rooms: Clean and comfortable with a lovely modern bathroom. Had the best night's sleep in a long time.Nearby activities: Abernethy 9 hole golf course is only 10 minute walk away and Aviemore town just a 15 minute drive away.Walkability: There are nature trails for all abilities within a stones throw of hotel.Food & drinks: A good choice and reasonably priced.
