We had booked in for afternoon tea. On arrival the woman at the front desk appeared a bit flustered and quite blunt with her replies to questions.
We had arrived early and asked if we could sit in the garden and have a coffee first. She asked if we would like to just go for our afternoon tea now but we declined and said we would rather wait until the time we were booked in for.
She said we could sit outside, but....she had something to do first. This was fine. We made our way to the beautiful garden and found a nice spot to sit.
There were no cushions on the seats and we weren't offered any.
Our coffees came in a tea cup and not even full to the top.
When our afternoon tea came, it looked delicious. Unfortunately it didn't taste as good as it looked. There were goats cheese balls on the menu. I'm not sure if this is what we got, we did have balls of something, that tasted like dirty cooking oil.
Once we were served, we never saw anyone again. No one came to check if anything was ok or did we need anything else and we weren't offered anything to drink other than the tea.
When we eventually saw a member of staff, we asked for our cakes to be boxed. We couldn't eat everything and we wanted to go down to the garden to have a drink after in the sun.
The server said she would put our cakes in a box and we were to go downstairs and ask about drinks.
We enquired about drinks downstairs and we were told we could, but....there was no bar man at the moment and she would get someone.
On leaving we asked about the cakes. The girl went to find out where they were and came back to tell us there had been a mistake and they hadn't been put on a box. She didn't have any resolution to this.
We expressed our dissatisfaction mentioning that it had been all of the cakes. She then said I will go and speak with someone. Eventually she returned with the cakes, hanging them over, saying "here you go".
We didn't even get any apology.
The service was awfull with the most basic waiting skills not being carried out. Eg, checking everything is ok after having served food.
I would not recommend going here for any special occasion. Everything seemed like an effort

Two night stay was fantastic . Upgraded to Princess Margaret suite which was out of this world . Staff so friendly and helpful . Accommodation was 5 star , breakfast was good with hot food hot and good selection . Had evening meal in restaurant . Quality of food was outstanding and service great . Grounds are stunning with plenty of walks available . All around fantastic experience and we will definitely be back .

Super afternoon tea in a lovely Pricess Margaret Lounge. Excellent atmosphere and service by Isabella. Thoughtfulness in creating treats for diabetic attendee was much appreciated. Very helpful with voucher redemption at reception too. Could not have done more to

Food and drinks: Bodies breakfast theatre was ace as much as you wanted!!
Noteworthy details: Warm welcoming staff.

The place is stunning. A warm welcome greeted us at reception. The barman must have been having a bad day and we kept him busy all night,not very friendly at all we all noticed it.
Restaurant wow wow wow,absolutely fabulous ourserver could not do enough.thankyou to the lady see made out night.our steaks were great.
The single beds are to small amsterdam style had s poor night's sleep.pillows to fluffy we all mentioned these things.

Amazing place! Beautiful building and nature around it. Room large, great view, warm and clean, stuff very friendly as well. Fantastic value for money, plenty of parking outside even for a large van. Would definitely recommend it.

Celebrated my 50th birthday at Carberry tower with my husband. We were given a warm greeting and a complimentary room upgrade to a beautiful spacious suite. All staff were very friendly and polite throughout. The food in the restaurant was outstanding. The breakfast plentiful and delicious. The whole hotel was extremely clean.
On my birthday we were given a complimentary drink each in the restaurant.
Everything was 100%. Highly recommend.

Fantastic hotel with some amazing history, we stayed in one of the suites which was beautiful the staff couldn't do enough for us would definitely recommend this hotel if staying around Edinburgh with some amazing walks around the site thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Good size carpark and it's free to use.
Warm friendly check in and all information given
A lift connects all floors but you may need to use the stairs for some rooms.
The room was spacious and clean, the shower room was a bit on the small side.
The bed was super comfortable.
Wifi was ok
The shower was hot and powerful.
Breakfast not included but could be added if wanted.
Evening meal was excellent, a few good items on the menu, reasonably priced.
The location is set in beautiful Scottish countryside.
Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Avoid at all costs for Christmas dinner unless you are happy paying 145pp for a 5 course meal that is nothing like what is stated on the set menu, left at mains as we were so disappointed with cold undercooked bland small portions with no help from the poor staff who had to deal with it all on the day and now being offered 25% refund as goodwill. If I could give 0 stars I would we will never be back as been let down time and time again here this is the third and last visit from us!

Nice hotel.. but lacks finesse.. for example, no tablecloths at breakfast, food only quite nice and a bit functional, room a lick of paint.. lovely house for weddings.. come on Carberry.. it wouldn?t take much to up your game..

Went there for lunch. Great service in fantastic setting. Nice walk in the garden afterwards. Highly recommended!
