My first time here at this great pub at Moniaive during their annual folk festival, there was great session music by wonderful musicians in the bars and café areas during the whole weekend...
Also at the rear of The George a stage was erected on the lawn with bands also playing throughout the whole weekend...
There was a very welcoming atmosphere by all the very friendly local people who embraced the whole event...
I'm definitely going to visit this pub on a return visit when it's not a busy weekend, especially to saviour the atmosphere of the area in the Dumfries and Galloway hills of Scotland...
Come and visit this beautiful area and don't forget to pop into The George...
Yes, I'll be back...

Absolutely delighted that we found this lovely place. The owners are just so friendly & accommodating, you rarely find a place to eat nowadays where you are made to feel at home but this has been one for my family & me. Everyone absolutely enjoyed their food, even the pickiest of little girls have been happy!! We've enjoyed the sunshine in the back garden but it's also beautiful inside. We will definitely come back one day!!

Great Bar/Restaurant /Cafe. No Draught beer, but more loads of choice from the bottle bar, ice cold or room temperature. One of the oldest pubs in Scotland ??

We went here just for something to eat, and found it to be quant and the workers were wonderful, even though we had to order our meal from the bar - the cafe was shut - we were allowed to have our meal in the cafe and have to say hand on heart the Ratatouille was the best I have had -and I?ve had it in France- and accounting to my wife and Mother-in Law their burger was very good?

Absolutely lovely pub, warm welcome and owners are so friendly and accommodating. Beautiful home made food as well. Fantastically unique place with lots of history. We?re glad we visited. Would highly recommend if you want an old style pub!

Whilst out for a Sunday drive, we stopped in Moniaive for lunch. We popped into The George Hotel . The staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was prompt, and our order was taken. A fantastic Gluten Free menu. Our meals arrived within 20 minutes and was piping hot. We all had the roast meals. There was a lovely selection of cakes and scones on display. The prices are reasonable. The environment was very pleasant. I will definitely be back again. Thank you.

Popped in for a drink one night and a coffee and cake to their cafe next day. Positive experience on both occasions. New owners seem to be working hard to get the George in order again. Good whisky and bottled beer at v reasonable prices first night, lovely scones next day. Friendly family management with a good attitude. Recommended.

Lovely food in the cafe. Came one day where vegans and vegetarians were really well catered for, both food and drink. Lovely service, very friendly. The food was so nice, we came back the next day. Will be back again next time we are here and have told family who live here.

You will be sure of a warm welcome from Robin and his team at the George hotel. The rooms are clean, the beds very comfortable, the bar is friendly and cozy and on Friday's expect an impromptu group playing guitars and singing emotional songs folk, blues, and pop. I loved it all

Made very welcome by Ann-Marie and Robbie when coming for drinks here.Without doubt this is the best pub in the village. Don't stray to the other, seriously unfriendly!
