I dropped off my lawnmower with a suspected gearbox failure. 22 days later, and no news, I called in to find out any progress. A surly, unpleasant guy immediately went on the defensive - "we're busy, Alko parts hard to get etc..."My machine had not been touched, so he directed another chap to check it over. I expressed surprise that after 22 days, they were going to look at it there and now. I was told in no uncertain terms that I could take the lawnmower away. After five minutes, I was told what I already knew and with no hint of an apology, I left with the machine.I truly cannot recall ever having experienced such a rude insolent attitude along with a complete lack of professionalism and disinterest in customer service.Avoid St Bowells Mowers and in particular the fat guy in the "service" department.

Rented a car trailer for a day. Done the job no problem. Women on the phone brilliant to deal with. To be short and sweet the guy in shop at desk very arrogant with a bad attitude,and to be honest. I wouldn't go back.

Starting with the positive bit - St Boswells Mowers sold us a good petrol mower at a very reasonable price about 3 years ago. Our experiences of getting aftercare service have been consistently awful. Just aborted the latest attempt as our mower has sat in their workshop for 3 weeks - they "haven't had time to look at it". This wouldn't necessarily be an issue if they had actually talked to us, but my conversation at the end of week 1 was cut off with "we haven't got time to call people to let them know what's happening, we'll just let you know when its ready". We heard no more during the next fortnight, so my wife popped in to pick the mower up last night - they give her the wrong one! Would they then drive the 18 miles to our house with the right one? Not likely. They show a palpable and consistent contempt for their customers and this comes from the top down. We have now taken our mower to a great little company in Berwick. I would recommend giving St Boswells Mowers a very wide berth.
