Disappointing quirky place that needs to sort its reception, ordering and communication out. You have to get a table first, then go back to the counter to order your food. None of this was communicated to me as I arrived at the counter. The older member of staff just simply asked me what I'd like . She could have smiled and helped by explaining the system and offering a menu to look as there is no menu at the counter other than a small takeaway one on a wall. Scones are large and delicious but in general it's expensive for the meagre portions you get. Poor tasteless gluten free bread and mostly uncomfortable chairs. First impressions are lasting, and I was unlucky, as I watched other staff members greeting customers properly at the counter while the older lady was away. I'd only use it as a takeaway in future I usually go Flour next door and thought I'd give this a try. I advise yo g o next door to Flour for better comfort, service and atmosphere.

Quaint little place to stop for tea, coffee, breakfast or lunch. Adults had Coronation chicken sandwich and bacon with tomato sandwich. Came with a small side of crisps and salad. Perfect for lunch. The kids had a jam sandwich with chips and a kids snack plate (cheese, ham, apple, raisins, cucumber and crisps with oatcakes and butter). Lovely selection of fresh home baked treats and cakes, but my favourite is the custard cream puff!

Ok, but overpriced; lunch was average but very expensive, with it being £6.50 for a bacon and egg roll.

Excellent (and huge) fruit scones with jam & cream, served with lovely coffee and a huge smile.
Don't drive past, drive in.
I only knocked a star off as the car park's a bit tight, but otherwise it was great.

We visit Perthshire three or four times a year, and stay close to Meigle. Every holiday includes at least one visit to The Joinery.
There are other places to eat in the area, but none are as good as here. Wonderful, fresh sandwiches; great selection of fillings and always something new on the ?specials board? to be savoured.
Lovely staff, very welcoming and helpful. It?s a gem of a place and I thoroughly recommend it.
Will be back before we leave on Friday ?
