The hotel is very well located 1 minute walk from Morar train station. The place is quiet and the view from the restaurant is magnificent. By taking a taxi, a train or a bus (quite rare, however, for the last 2) you can get to Mallaig in less than 10 minutes to take the Ferry. The staff is helpful and the breakfast is plentiful and good. The room was quite small, the floor although carpeted was not always level and the spring mattress seemed not to be straight. We felt like we were sliding towards the edges. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and the dishes were really generous and very well prepared. The price is in line with a 3-star hotel, except that the bedding for a hotel of this quality must be impeccable.

The hotel itself lacks a bit of spit-and-polish. The main reception, bar, and restaurant are all good, and there is a nice new decking area to the back of the hotel that has fantastic views. The room we had was OK. The bed was comfortable, but there were issues with poorly fitted switches. The window in our room was taped shut at one side, and the handles at the other side didn't fully close the window properly. The buffet breakfast we had was really nice, and the food served in the restaurant was tasty, but a bit on the expensive side. The staff working at the hotel were all super friendly and attentive.Overall, I think the hotel is a bit expensive for where it is at. If the fixtures and fittings were up to the same high standard as the staff service, then I would recommend this as a place to stay. As it is now, I wouldn't not recommend it, if that makes sense?Noteworthy details: The Silver Sands of Morar are truly beautiful.

We had a lovely stay in an ocean view room. The new owners have worked very hard to increase the quality of this hotel. Room was large. Staff helpful. Plenty of parking. Great location in leaving or heading for Skye. Recommended.

We took rooms here just for the view and it was so worth it. Arrived just in time to see the Harry Potter train stop at the station across the road. The weather had been grumpy all day but it just made the atmoshere seem even better. Warm greetings from the reception desk and no trouble checking in. Rooms were clean and well appointed all in a very peaceful setting. Breakfast was very filling and I was sorry to only be there for one night.

Enjoyed my stay at the Morar Hotel. The restaurant area is really nice and there is a large decking area/beer garden with amazing views of the Silver Sands and the Isle of Rum. Beautiful sunset on our final night. The staff at the hotel are really nice and service was great. The food in the restaurant was mostly great, maybe one bad dish out of 10 we had between the 3 of us. Breakfast was so good, was buffet style and was very tasty. Like the reception seating area, lots of couches and a bar area nearby. Small negatives are restaurant food was very expensive, we spent £150 for 2 adults and a child to eat, we did have lots, some starters and deserts and wine though. Also, no food available at lunchtime and no options to go elsewhere as a very small remote town. The room needed a little bit of work, some sockets are loose, towel rail didn't work and the window in our room was taped closed, although the heating was very good and could easily have a cosy room. Beds were comfy and room was clean. We arrived by train and the station is literally just across the road, we had no car and it was a bit of a treck to get to the beach (30 mins walk fine but some on roads with no pavements) but was absolutely gorgeous when we go there. The weather was really nice in October when we visited. Not many trains go through but can get the train to Mallaig (10 mins away) where there are more options for pubs, food, shops etc. Lots of Harry Potter shops and are likely to catch sight of the Jacobite Train.

I can't say enough good things about the hotel! Akram, the bar man, went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. His friendly demeanor and exceptional service made me feel right at home. Cheers to Akram and the amazing experience!" ???Food & drinks: Fantastic food

Considering the positivity of some previous reviews we were really disappointed. On arrival I thought the building smelled like an antique shop. The first night we got there we were put on the top floor room on a really blustery evening! The curtains were blowing and wind howling all night long as the window latch was broken. I had to try and cover the gaps using bathroom towels. When I told the manager he fixed it using masking tape to keep the window shut! The drinks were expensive with the staff adding VAT on as they pleased. We had different prices for the same drink two nights running! Major refurbishment needed here to update the hotel to standard. On the positive side gorgeous views from the top. Wouldn't like to go back and I would give a 3 out 5.

This is our second year in a row that we holidayed in Morar. We had several meals and drinks in the bar at The Morar Hotel. Great Food, very friendly staff. Special mention to Akram who always had a welcoming smile for us. Dogs are very welcome too. We hope to be back again.

This is our 2nd stay here and as before we found the hotel very comfortable and all the staff very friendly and welcoming. A special mention for Tuan, such a kind and helpful person. Nothing was too much trouble for him., despite dealing with a very busy dining room. The meals were great and the beds very comfy. We will definitely be back! Just returned from a repeat 5 night visit to the Morar Hotel. Welcomed very warmly by Yohan, Akram, Tuan and Trenton. They could not have been more anxious to please and showed excellent hospitality. Our room was excellent with amazing views and the food in the restaurant was of best quality. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel and we are greatly looking forward to returning next year.

Lovely spot and friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and we as ?foodies? we always have high expectations. We were not disappointed - lamb cooked to perfection and lively steak pie. Just a word of caution if you got off the train at Mallaigh. It?s further to Morar than you might think and only a sporadic taxi service. Check train times carefully.
