Okay-ish
Hey it's a chipper (no, I don't mean a garden machine that mashes up offcuts of wood) so were you really expecting a nice atmosphere?
The fish was okay - perhaps a bit too greasy for me as the batter was soft and because it had absorbed a lot of fat. The chips also were okay but there were too many chip-ends and not enough straight chips. My wife had the haddock and scampi combo and liked it a lot.
As a PS, portion sizes were very generous so we probably could've cut our order in half and still would've had enough.

Unfamiliar with Macduff, we stopped by looking for a chipper and found the Dolphin. We didn?t read reviews first, and I see there are some not so good ones. But ignore them! We got beautiful fresh fish in the crispest of batter. The chips were better than the ones we got at Portknockie a couple of weeks before. Give them a try!

I just bought the worst jumbo fish supper and steak pie supper you could ever dream of terrible just under 20 pounds the chips was hard the pie was so greasy and also hard couldn?t even chew it and the fish was soggy all you could taste was the oil,put it in a bin where it belongss

We were on holiday in the area at the weekend and were looking for a good fish and chips. After trawling google, we settled on Dolphin and we were very happy with our choice. The food was exceptional. Undecided between scampi and fish, we noticed that they offered a Duo Supper (scampi and fish), so this made our decision very easy. The fish was beautiful, lovely batter, the scampi was exceptional good crisp breadcrumb and tasty and the chips were very good. No greasy and just the right amount. We also ordered a large single fish, and the portion size was fantastic, one large piece of fish and smaller piece. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dolphin Fish and Chips to anyone in the area.

Fish was very dry and underwhelming. significantly less chips in a supper than competing chippy's in the area. curry sauce was ok but a bit bland. the only redeeming factor was the coleslaw unfortunately. First visit here and likely won't be returning as massively disappointing.
