Although the fish was lovely and fresh, the batter was really quite tough ... and the chips were very, very tough indeed.

While visiting the Viking Festival my wife decided she would like some chips as a snack, we went to the Fish Works on the Esplanade and we?re not disappointed, prompt friendly service and the chips were done to perfection, the best we have tasted in a long time we will definitely be back and try a fish supper the next time.

Haddock tasty, but small slice, lots of batter. Lemon sole same chips OK as we were hungry. 80p for some tartare sauce. Glad I tried it,but WON'T be returning. It was somewhere to sit in the sun.

The beauty of this is their ordering system and everything is cooked fresh and to order - it'll be seven minutes... On our first visit everything was perfect, not greasy, beautiful batter and chips - even the tartare sauce was great. Fish was stunning. My only criticism was that the cod was a decent size and the haddock quite small - given the cost of these fish and chips I think a better sized piece of haddock would be more appropriate. Onion rings not available which was disappointing. On our second visit same service and again the fish was stunning. However, the haddock was again small and cod was larger, but we all said there was more batter than fish. Don't get me wrong, the fish is good, but the prices are a bit OTT given the quantity variations. Best bet is to get them and sit in your car on the car park away from the gulls!

I can?t say enough about Fishworks and their staff. The food is delicious, that?s a given, but the staff go above and beyond. The whole Fishworks experience is one of excellence?..thank you so much?.and here?s to many more fabulous meals.

The chips were dry and overcooked . Like they had been under a heat lamp too long and the ones you?d get at primary school ! The crab mayo chips tasted VERY fishy as if the crab wasn?t fresh and the fish was just very average . An expensive takeaway that won?t be repeated

My partner is celiac and as this restaurant is celiac accredited we gave it a try. The were 6 of us and we all had something different, cod, haddock, scampi, chicken breast strips gluten free, and a sausage supper. The portions were generous and cooked to perfection. Probably the best chip shop takeaway I?ve had in a long time. Beware of the seagulls.

Trading on former glory. Ordered for pick up at 8:20 on Friday my partner went in at 8:15 and order was waiting? When we got home to West Kilbride opened my single fish and was disappointed tiny and overcooked and a third had to be thrown out as it was inedible. The chips were also disappointing the scrapings of the frier.i wish I had taken a photo to post but was that disappointed I didn't.No point in complaint on the night as wasn't travelling back to Large just won't be back.

Popped in to Largs and decided to grab a bite to eat, we should've just walked past. Don't be fooled folks by the pictures of the fish suppers as they don't live up to them in real life, the fish you'll get is probably half the size. £10.90 for what you'd call a mini supper anywhere else. Scampi, chips and tartare sauce - £12.60 - now I'd normally not give that a second thought but obviously it's value is in the chips as the scampi was scarce on the ground. Unfortunately after todays rip off we will not be back

Rapid service from order to collection. Overall we felt the meals were quite expensive. The fish was some of the nicest we have had though, recommend for taste.

Went to Largs for afternoon out and ended up stopping for some food at fish works after seeing their award winning badges. Great customer service, quick, very wide range of options across the pricing spectrum and excellent tasty food. For such a small place, it's great to have such a fantastic menu, where we had Haddock, Chicken and Haggis with chips. All coming with sustainable packaging too. Will definitely re visit when in the area. ?
