What a hidden gem this is - the staff could not have been more accommodating. We ate our evening meal in the hotel taking the 3 course option, the food was well cooked, hot and plentiful, tip to the wise, make sure you are hungry as the portions are generous. The locals including teenage school children were an absolute delight, friendliness that we have not experienced in a long time.Glasgow councillors should visit to see how a council can be ran and how our well earned money could be spent; clean streets, empty bins and well maintained common areas including greenery! If you get the chance, visit this delightful area and if time and funds permit, eat or even better stay in the hotel! The rooms are not the biggest but they are clean and comfortable with common areas to sit / relax and have coffee or something stronger! You wont be disappointed - we will definately return.

Lovely country Scottish hotel in the borders. Friendly staff, good food and hospitality. Has own car park. Very chilled. Not too pricy but very traditionally full of class.

There was no available accommodation in Newcastleton on the night we wanted, so we booked at the Eskdale in Langholm instead. I had previously stayed at the Eskdale in November 1968 when walking from Alnmouth to Gretna. I was not disappointed then, and neither were we disappointed in 2023. The room was quite large enough, the bed was comfortable, meals (dinner and breakfast) were excellent. Good old-fashioned Scottish hospitality!

there are no saving graces about this hotel. The double room was a pokey little space where entry to the only hanging space, was obstructed by an armchair, which couldn't be moved as there was nowhere for it to go. The bathroom though clean was very well used 70s style suite. We both ordered Haddock as a main course, the fish was undercooked and the chips tasted like they had been reheated. No decent cook would have allowed them out of his/her kitchen. a member of staff noted we had left most of our meal but made no comment as to why. Breakfast the next morning was no better , it consisted of greasy fried egg undercooked sausage and overcooked tattie scone. I'm truely glad that we only booked in for one night. given my experiance I would never consider this hotel again and would strongly advise my friends from going there

Stayed here for 1 night on the way up to the west coast of Scotland. We arrived a bit late at 19:40 and was asked if we wanted a meal as the kitchen was closing at 8 which I thought was a nice touch ? the food we ordered wasn't the best as the mash potato was a bit hard and so were the vegetables, but as the kitchen was closing it was probably food cooked through out the day. The staff here are very friendly ? the room was very nice and had all the little extras, shower was really good and the beds were very comfortable ? only problem I noticed was cobwebs in the bathroom which should have been noticed and cleaned. We had a room facing the road which can get noisy at times but wasn't a massive problem, if your a light sleeper maybe book a room away from the road. The breakfast was really nice ? overall the hotel is really good ? and would definitely stay here again if travelling in and around Scotland.

Great food , got the fajitas first , if you get them put all sauces in for best experience but give you small amount of cheese, 9/10 would recommend if you like good food for not horrible prices, second day got the Rosie pork would recommend but get the potatoes. Day 3 last day got the fish and chips not as good but still very nice. Rooms very clean and good views, and for the breakfast buffet .. 10/10 - kershAlso I loved the staff very friendly.

Modest aspirations yet well executed, this is a lovely hotel with a high finish and punching above its weight. Good bed, bathroom, dining room, bar areas. Friendly and efficient staff and service, although there were some issues with confirmation of booking through Booking.com... resolved by a phone call to me in response to my direct email. Bravo, person to person interaction, not machine... how refreshing! Food is good, fairly imaginative and well executed; breakfast was better than expected.
