We were worried as we booked late, had a dog and needed something quick! They couldn?t have given us a warmer welcome. Dog friendly, clean and warm!

Have stayed at The Crown Hotel a number of times. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Bedrooms are always clean and tidy, beds very comfortable, ensuite great, always plenty of hot water for a shower. Plenty of tea and coffee in room. Public areas clean and tidy. Samantha and Steve who own The Crown are so friendly and show a true interest in the history of the building. Lots of information of The Common Riding ... If you visit ask about what is a celebration of the town's history. What can be said about the food, great selection available and prepared and served to a high standard, the good quality of ingredients makes this a dining experience much higher than the normal run of the mill meals served at many eatery's. Full cooked breakfast is also well prepared and will fill the most hungry of mouths. (Ask Sam about the haggis. I'm a townie and found it very interesting ???) The bar has a very good selection of beers and spirits and always made to feel welcome by the bar staff and customers. During our stays we have seen the upgrading that the owner have done and are going to continue to do. Thank you to Sam and Steve and all the staff that make a stay here enjoyable and we are looking forward to visiting in the future.

The place used to be brilliant, laid back, relaxed and most importantly good fun, but now with these new owners it?s strict and lifeless, forcing bar staff to close early and making customers feel unwanted. Food is absolutely horrendous, pints are hit or miss and the place is in desperate need of painting and decor, but instead of doing that they keep the place exactly the same? At least with previous owners the state of the pub wasn?t an issue as they welcomed you in. Whilst on the subject of upkeep, the males toilets could easily be one of the least sanitary places I?ve been, couple local lads say there aren?t many girls come into the pub (can?t understand why ?) so they just used the female toilets, apposed to being subjected to using the males. Which I completely understand as I?d imagine Thailand prisons have better facilities, this is the number one thing needing done first! I understand things done get done over night but they have been in for a couple years now and to not even paint the doors and the walls on the front of the building seems bonkers to me (make the place look inviting!!!) I also recommend not closing at 10/10:30 when you have people requesting to stay, would be extra money towards bringing the male toilets into the 21st century.

Room had everything you need.Beds were comfortable and room was clean and tidy.Plenty of tea and coffee available.Bathroom area had recently been upgraded. The cooked breakfast was delicious and there was also a good choice of cereals on offer.Owners were welcoming and friendly. My only real complaint was the main door was shut at 2220hrs and use of the door fob was never explained to us by the barman on our check in.Took him 15 minutes to answer the doorbell.

Decent bar, limited food menu, but the food is well cooked. Friendly banter with the locals. Staff are really attentive.

We just popped in for lunch. The food was lovely but it was the service which really stood out. They were very friendly and helpful.

Open from 2pm on a Wednesday, this Hotel ended up being a refuge on a very wet day in Langholm as the rest of the village was closed. Only the bar was open but it was a friendly atmosphere and the Guinness was good... And very reasonably priced. The bar area was a bit cold, (Perhaps just a sign of the times) We stayed for another pint..... Would have been rude not to!Walkability: Easy walk from the campsite near the rugby club into the village.

Called in at the last minute before taking in a show at the 'Buccleuch Centre' and we weren't dissapointed in the least. The food was really good along with the service that we received. We will definitely look to eat there again in the future

Travelled up from the North East for pleasure. Stayed at the Esk but came to the crown for drinks. Brilliant craic and a beautiful pint of Guinness. Highly recommend ? Hayle is spot on.

We popped in here last week for a quick drink which turned into a few hours due the the friendly and warm welcome we got from the locals, it seemed a bit loud when we first went in but don?t let this put you of this is a great place for a cheap pint and socialising, we went to another bar down the road which was empty probably due to the patronising and derogatory manner in which me and my partner were subject to by the guy behind the bar, apparently only men make good chefs!
