Although this is ?modern? in castle terms due to reconstruction it is well worth a visit. The castle is furnished and rooms are set which is nice to see, it was a cold day when we visited in March but once inside the wood burners were running in the two main rooms which made it surprisingly warm and homely.Plenty of items on display and friendly helpful guides if you have any questions.Nice cafe on site too.

Imposing and beautiful. Well worth a visit

Let me start off by saying that our visit was enjoyable, and the guides were knowledgeable and very helpful! That being said, if you are after an authentic experience this is not for you. The castle was completely rebuilt as a summer home in the 1930s, and is still owned by the family who continue to use it occasionally as a private residence. If we had fully understood that before paying for the tickets I?m not sure we would have taken the tour.

Disabled parking available and wheelchair accessible visitors centre and cafe. Car park was £4 for a van for 3 hours. Castle was beautiful, lots of steps but there are handrails and seats to rest. The staff were absolutely lovely and accommodating to my needs. Was able to get a free admission for myself due to being disabled. Cafe had lovely homemade food.

Possibly the most photogenic (and most frequently photographed) castle in Scotland. For the best views, from the main carpark walk over the Dornie road bridge and look back to the castle. Alternatively the overflow car park is on this side of the river and gives you the best access to the food view. There is also a small tea room / cafe on this side too.On this occasion for us the hill tops were white with snow and the heavy clouds were very atmospheric - but Eilean Donan looks good in any weather that lets you see it!

A great Scottish castle! Not only is the atmosphere simply fantastic, the nature around the castle is simply picturesque! The outdoor area can be visited free of charge, but anyone who wants to go into the castle has to pay an entrance fee. On the mainland there is a small canteen and a completely overpriced gift shop. Since the prices in the gift shop are totally overpriced, one point is deducted. So if you're in Inverness and the surrounding area, you should stop by!

This place needs proper investing to be as famous as the Austrian Hallstatt.

Eilean Donan Castle, nestled at the meeting point of three lochs in the Scottish Highlands, is a captivating blend of medieval strength and romanticism. Dating back to the 13th century, its rugged stone walls and turrets echo centuries of Scottish history, while its stunning surroundings of mist-covered mountains and shimmering lochs create a scene straight out of a fairy tale. Exploring its interior is a journey through time, offering glimpses into different periods of Scottish history. Whether you're a history enthusiast, architecture lover, or simply seeking scenic beauty, a visit to Eilean Donan Castle promises an enchanting experience.

Very much enjoyed our visit here, went midweek and it was early February, so there were very few other people, so we were able to have a personal one to one chat to the Guides who were amiable, knowledgeable and very interesting. The fursuiting happened after the house closed for the day, some great photos with that special end of the day lighting.
