My family and I have just enjoyed a lovely meal here. I called ahead following a visit to Glamis Castle and when we arrived our table was already set for us outside due to our dog being with us. The young man who served us was excellent, we were made to feel very welcome and we all left an empty plate behind as our food was delicious. A local resident recommended the restaurant following a great day out at the castle as Armstrong?s is five minutes away. We ate early, our food arrived promptly and we all left happy. The restaurant filled up during our meal which was nice to see. My final comment would be ?don?t judge a book by its cover?, we almost did as from the outside the restaurant isn?t that appealing although I will add it?s very clean and tidy. So don?t drive on, pull in and have yourself a very pleasant dining experience.

EXCELLENT customer service! Even the service on the original phone call was lovely! We were quite ?demanding? and Dylan was an absolute delight. Food was delicious.

We were booked in as a group of around 20 for high tea and 3 of us sat at a table laid for 3. The chips were awful, hard and chewy, peas rock hard, scampi overcooked, toast came after the main meal, we had to ask for side plates and cup/saucers. The cake selection was poor, 3 scones (we had to ask for butter) and a selection of 5 cakes for 3 of us. Very poor all round which was disappointing as its usually very good

Just been back after a while away as the menu was boring and the same everytime I went for dinner. Fortunately it has a new owner and the menu has been changed and was a much better experience. Food was excellent and portions just right. Good service and decent parking.

My husband and I had such a wonderful evening at Armstrong's restaurant on Friday. We have been looking for a place like this a short drive from our home that serves great food in a nice atmosphere. The warmth we felt from the owners and serving staff during our visit was truly lovely and added to our experience, we felt very welcomed. The setting is pretty, surrounded by trees. We sat out in the sun for cocktails (which were fab) before going in to our table. Comfy seats outside. Our server (I think her name was Eve) was really good, very friendly and attentive. The service was great. The food really is some of the best we have had, cooked really well, good portion sizes and tasty. Good level of choices available on the menu, including a varied vegan menu which was excellent and much welcomed. The puddings are a bit too good, dangerous! Hot drinks come with a little piece of home made fudge on the side which is truly delicious. Well done all and thank you, we will be back, and probably very soon...!

This is my first visit to Armstrong bar and restaurant.
I met with the new owner and his business partner apologies I have forgotten your name.
I was met with a friendly welcome from all the staff.
From chatting with the staff I found out that the current owners have only taken it over for the last 4 weeks.
They have introduced a couple of changes to the menu, having specialty nights as in Tuesday tastes of India with a selection of curry to choose from, Wednesday they have the best Scottish steak on offer and Sunday carvery with a selection of meat and seasoned vegetables.
My mouth is watering as I am typing this!
So let me tell you what I ordered for my meal, well I ordered lasagna it came with chips and a side salad and garlic bread.
There wasn't a long wait and it came out piping hot. From the first bite to the last was full of tasty ingredients. I fully enjoyed the meal and found that it was the perfect portion size too.
I would recommend a visit as they have a variety of dishes to choose from and I am sure that you won't be disappointed.
