Gorgeous little place with views of Scapa Flow and the Italian Chapel.
The baked goodies were enjoyed by us all and the coffees were delicious.
It was lovely being able to chill there but also have a nosey around the shop too.
Celina?s jewellery is stunning. We bought some for a gift and the recipient had already ordered more of her jewellery.

We stopped here twice for lunch and once for cake and coffee. Soup was lovely and so were the sandwiches. Cakes/scones were to die for and on both lunch occasions my partner had some cake to go ? friendly staff, lovely and convenient location.

We have loved the fresh food and cakes over recent months. I?ve really enjoyed the crab and lobster, too! Food is always tasty and fresh and all the staff are always a delight - always service with a smile. Always an enjoyable experience in a lovely environment. Easy to park and access the cafe.
Parking: Right in front of the cafe.

I like to make a point of coming here when home on holiday. This time was no different. A fantastic lunch with my sister. Hearty baked potato with fillings and salad, big soup and a toastie and large lattes. Homemade cakes are lush and monster size cheese scones (as they should be) Fantastic experience and always busy. Brilliant views of the bay and Flow. Sadly no photos this time. Great place, thank you.
Vegetarian options: Nice choices through the menu.
Dietary restrictions: Various options available in the menu and cakes.
Kid-friendliness: Yup
Wheelchair accessibility: Yup

We had lunch here on our way to the Italian Chapel. Ordered 4 lunches and asked if the table could be cleared as it was full of empty dishes. Waited an age and two of our food orders arrived and were squeezed onto the table among the dirty plates. Again asked the girl to clear the table and she took away 1 plate and 1 cup to make room. This was repeated when the toastie arrived. We told the girl we were still waiting for 1 meal and she said it was coming but it didn't. Had to later get up and ask for it but it still didn't appear. A waitress came and asked to see the receipt but I wasn't given one and sandwich still didn't arrive. By this time everyone had finished their food. The waitress was still looking at the order on the till and eventually it arrived. Terrible service as we had to eat our meal among dirty dishes and an unwashed table. On the way out some of us went to the toilet where there was no paper towels or toilet roll. Won't be back.

I live in Orkney and the Barrier View is one of my favourite cafes. The food is always delicious, the view is great, the atmosphere is friendly and the staff are helpful. Plus the menu is varied and great value for money.
Dietary restrictions: Lots of choice and everything very clearly labelled
Parking: Always plenty if spaces
Kid-friendliness: My kids love eating at the Barrier View

Friendly Staff, fresh food with a local flavour when the owners husband provides fresh lobster and crab from his boat moored a mile away ! Delicious cakes and coffees also available to take away if you want to picnic by the beach.
The jewellery made on the premises is stunning and all with an Orkney theme. Go on treat yourself.
Easy parking, beautiful views and comfortable clean cafe . 5***** from all my tour guests that I bring here .. and my husband who I bring occasionally ?
