OYO Thistle, Milnathort, Kinross, KY13 9XT - booked via Booking.com 29th June 2020 for 2 night 17 and 18th August.We arrived at the property 17/8 and they stated they had no knowledge of the booking. Payment had been taken from my account on15/8 but the owner said he had not seen a penny from booking.com and refused to let us stay as he stated they are no longer part of the OYO group and do not deal with Booking.com. They have a no pets policy and there was absolutely no way the dog was staying in his newly refurbished rooms after he had spent 50k (I have an email confirmation from OYO that they are pet friendly and we could take our dog). He offered us no alternative or apology and was rude and dismissive at best. We were left stranded with nowhere to stay and I left the property feeling humiliated and in tears. Horrible man!! Do not stay here!!Also to note Booking.com and OYO have been less than helpful, magnanimously agreeing to refund without penalties...yes really...but this can take up to 3 weeks to process ?

Booked overnight stay, confirmed with booking.com. Landlord denied having the booking or taking payment. Tried to charge £100, but dropped to £70. Rooms were being refurbished so no TV, no kettle, no curtains. Showed us to first floor room then said that would be noisy as it was over the bar. Finished up in a family room on top floor. Very noisy with traffic passing, sloping roof over the bed made it impossible to get in either side without bending double. When we got home found the original charge had been taken so finished up paying £114 for his rubbish room. Hotel chain refusing to refund. Avoid like the plague.

If you want to be told to pay double advertised the price you've already paid and try to claim back the original price later, that your dog has "no way in hell" of being allowed to stay (despite having confirmed prior to booking and paying) that dogs are welcome, and if you want to deal with the most inept, dismissive and ignorant hotel manager since Basil Faulty, then the Thistle in Kinross is the place for you..... From personal experience I'd recommend you avoid if like the plague though.... We drove 4 and half hours back home rather than stay or attempt to reason with the "owner"....

We arrived on sat 22nd August at 6.45pm after booking a room through booking.com ..to be told there was no room booked for us, the hotel does not deal with booking.com and we had a dog which was definitely not getting in..( beware we called booking.com earlier in the afternoon just to confirm our booking and ensure our dog was allowed, which they confirmed) left stranded we booked the Best Western Belgeddie , last minute they had a room!! They were so welcoming, so dog friendly and the meals were delicious. This hotel is advertising through booking.com BEWARE!!!

The resturant has just reopened with new owners. Food was good, would recommend. Service friendly. Hope to be back soon.
