Firstly the staff were faultless, all trying hard in a losing battle. This is a lovely historic building but the ground floor has been renovated in a cheap contemporary style. Jocks bar now looks like a school dining hall with no soft furnishings is incredibly noisy. The Bedrooms are just awful, no sound proofing, tattered curtains, squeeky bed and mouldy bathroom. We had breakfast which was buffet style and surprisingly ok. Could be good but needs a heap load of money spent

The hotel was excellent, staff were very positive and friendly. Food and service lovely. Would definitely stay again if in the area. The surrounding area was also really nice. Lock Leven is a tranquil place for a stroll.

So tired it's gone to sleep! Oh dear!... just experienced a 1 night DBB stay at The Green Hotel in Kinross. DANGER WARNING!.. think twice about staying here! Kinross and the surrounding area has certainly got plenty to offer for a mini-break but you may want to consider another Hotel for your stay. I certainly should have scrutinised online reviews more diligently! My pictures should illustrate the following points that I mention. The entrance it has to be said looks inviting and Freya on reception duty was very welcoming and helpful. It quickly goes downhill after that unfortunately. The walk to our room encountered the shabby carpeting in my pictures. A trip to Carpetright maybe a good idea in the not too distant future! Our room was a good size it has to be said but the plugs in the room were insufficient.. some were even the old round pin 15amp jobs.. circa 1960!(sorry, you can't fit your new apple phone into any of those) OMG... what horror awaited me when I took a peek into the bathroom... no, not Anthony Perkins lurking behind the shower curtain as in Hitchcock's Psycho... but the dreaded mould... loads of it!.. probably bad enough to be condemned by Health& Safety. I certainly had no intention of venturing in there before my evening meal so I thought I would pop down to the Hotel Swimming Pool.... or so I thought! Freya informed me that they hadn't had this facility for 12 years. Oh, I said, but pictures are on your google website for all to see. Why haven't they been deleted? Surely this is a misrepresentation of what facilities the hotel offers its guests? She kindly put me in contact with the Duty Manager, Mr David Crow which turned out to be a complete waste of time. His attitude of 'this is how it is and I'm sorry but you'll just have to accept it' doesn't cut it with me I'm afraid. Its a case of 'what Mr Google says can't be corrected' he tried to get me to believe. I'll not say precisely what my retort to that stupid assertion was (children might be reading this) How about a bottle of wine at dinner as some sort of goodwill gesture I put it to him... I'm still waiting on his reply after he copped out by saying he would have a word with his General Manager. IF YOU'RE STILL READING, THIS REVIEW IS TAKING LONGER THAN I EXPECTED... SORRY! At £156 for DBB this place isn't giving you bargain rates it would have to be said, so when I was told that the Dining Room was only staffed at weekends and that we would be eating in the bar I was anything but chuffed. Would have been OK if Id wanted to watch the footy on the giant TV but my good lady made me sit in the chair where I couldn't see it anyway! Not long to go now hopefully... Breakfast! Food was pretty basic with warm coffee and tea served out of flasks into MUGS... Yes, I know we'd been taken for MUGS but there were no cups is what I'm referring to. Oh, and we didn't expect to be eating in the company of our canine friends even though I'm a very, very doggy person. To sum up, If you've managed to get to the end of this review and still think it's worth a punt then good luck to you. The Oat Crumble biscuits in the bedroom(1 pack to share) were scrumptious. For once I'm being serious. The leaflet in the bedroom kindly asked for reviews on TripAdvisor and Google so I'm happy to oblige.

We went for a short break, when we arrived we did notice the building could do with a lick of paint but inside we were greeted by a lovely lady at reception who was very helpful and pleasant. Got to our room which was huge, very spacious. Had tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer, shampoo/shower gel, although to agree with others maybe in need of a bit of TLC along with some communal areas but clean. Lovely lounge area where we sat both nights with a drink from the bar. Ate in the restaurant both nights and cannot fault the meals at all, absolutely gorgeous and I'm a fussy eater. Service was excellent and I do have to mention the young man Hamish who was outstanding at his job. Pleasant, friendly, attentive and worked hard. A huge asset to the hotel. Had breakfast both mornings where there was a great selection of foods from cold buffet to hot which set us up for the day. To sum it up food, service, friendly staff and hotel was great but could just do with a bit of a refurbishment. We would definitely go back.

Staff friendly and helpful. Staying for a golf break . Bacon rolls were cold. 3 course dinner very average . Meal after second round of golf was the same as the dinner menu , very poor planning. My room was an in - refurbished one . Badly stained carpet, no opening windows which were very dirty with peeling paint. No kettle, no hairdryer which when asked for they couldn?t find any to replace. But they did provide complimentary tea from room service. These rooms should be at a lower price but no refund given .

We were a group of eight staying at the Green Hotel on a wee golfing break, rooms were comfortable and clean along with friendly/helpful staff. The evening meal and breakfast was faultless. We will be back ??

This review is pretty negative, and before you say I'm just after a free stay (which is justified). I was a business traveller so if refunded the money, it would go back to my employer. Where to start.... Positives fresh-looking reception and bar receptionist was pleasant shower was hot Negatives Both had diarrhoea and stomach cramps all the next day after eating at the bar the previous evening and for breakfast. Was bitten twice in my room by something on both hands Pillows and bedding are wafer-thin, beds are uncomfortable Beds falling apart Communal corridor carpets st least 10 years overdue replacement, threadbare, trip hazards, gaffer taped where worn completely though (see photos) lack of British 3-pin plugs in the room - old round pin type, nothing by the bed Mould in the bathrooms and cracked tiles, both health hazards window in room 23 cracked and presents a health hazard furniture shabby bottom line The Green Hotel is a health hazard and should be closed for sanitation and refurbishment before anyone considers staying there. Checked out after the first night, with management informed, and was told they would call back, no response. I called the hotel during office hours but they were not available for comment. no refund offered. pretty poor show on all counts especially for over £120 per night.

We had a lovely time at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. We played golf at the course across the road and had a very Scottish welcome. The courses were in excellent condition. We will definitely visit again.

Booked into The Green hotel for one night 24/4/23. The reception area is comfortable as is Jocks Bar and lounge area. The hotel is quirky and old but all staff were really pleasant and hardworking. The room (22) was clean, warm and comfortable with a lovely garden view. Dinner was lovely and the young waiters were doing a great job looking after everyone. Breakfast was tasty and hot and the lady in charge was welcoming and obviously enjoyed working at the hotel and had a sense of pride in the hotel. The Zombies at the Backstage gig were amazing and afterwards we were just along the corridor for a nightcap in the lounge and upstairs to our room. If your looking for 5 star luxury glam the Green Hotel isn't for you but my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to more gigs at The Backstage and overnight stays at the Green Hotel. Thanks to all the hardworking staff for helping to make our stay so enjoyable
