Very expensive for what it is. We took a twin room, the carpet was dirty, the wall needs painting, totally not worth it. It would be ok for 50-70 pounds but 160 is very expensive. The food was obviously frozen food.

I think if the lovely couple that used to run the hotel saw what had happened to their establishment it?d break their hearts. Extra cabins have been crammed in so the beauty, view, stillness and calm have gone - everything that made us repeat customers for the past decade.
I checked prices and in July 2021 2 nights for 2 people in a cabin totaled £80. This year one night (and you now have a new cabin in front of you blocking your view and privacy) it cost £120! Literally three times the price.
It?s such a pity that a once fantastic escape in Scotland run by a family who lived on site has become a soulless money making toy bought up by a wealthy Glasgow businessman who has no interest in the property other than the profit. It?s become soulless.

Would not recommend this hotel, room tired and smelt of damp, entrance to room through what they called a garden was a ramshackle mess of old caravans and broken fences.
Slow service in the bar, with one man trying to do bar and reception . After seeing our room we decided to leave .

1 night stay to break up the drive home from Northern Scotland.
Positives
- accepts dogs
- friendly and efficient check in
- nice location
- decent sized rooms with working amenities
- food and drinks arrived quickly
Negatives
- room was a bit grubby- dirty light switches, grimey floor
- Very very expensive for what it was £218 room, £37.50 x3 small portion breakfasts, £10 dog (does not seem to be used for extra cleaning required) £53 x 3 average small portion meals 1/3 of the cost of my previous entire weeks holiday.
- lights did not work on the landing leaving it pitch black- emergency lighting not working in case of fire.
- view not really as advertised. Pretty but a bit oversold.
- short staffed one person doing reception, taking food orders, pouring drinks. Nice staff but didn?t have the rescourses to make this a nice and welcoming experience. Seemed to be all about being fast and taking money.
- saw people staying in the cabins queuing for the showers outside in midge hell.
- meals were edible but if I?m honest the sticky tables and grimey room put me off eating.
- For £12.50 it was a minimal breakfast buffet- toast, cereal, yogurt. The main course was 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 piece of bacon, 1 half of a tomato and a small portion of beans.
I would not stay again. I looked into this hotel out of interest- I thought as it was an ex aluminium town trying to make money through tourism- maybe it was a struggling local business.
It isn?t. The owner owns several hotels across Scotland and is based in Glasgow. It definitely feels like it?s a once a done approach as people are either climbing Ben Nevis or walking the West Highland Way so the reviews don?t matter.
I feel angry that to make more and more money guests are being overcharged for a sub par experience. Was not a nice end to my otherwise amazing Scottish holiday.
I am a walker and if I?d been on a long hike and paid upwards of £200 for the experience we had I?d be absolutely fuming.
Not the staffs fault at all. They seemed run ragged without proper investment/support. As much as I hate to do a local business down- avoid and either find a different hotel, b and b or wild camp.

me and my 3 friends booked and stayed in one of the bund bead cabins over a weekend in July so we could hike Ben Nevis. The staff were friendly and the bunk was clean and had a kettle and heater.
We stayed for 2 nights and on the second night ate in the bar and had some drinks which was great! The food was delicious and we enjoyed the soup of the day. We also played several rounds of pool as it was free! would definitely stay here and recommend to a friend!

We stayed in one of the cabins out the back of the hotel for £150.00, which in my opinion is EXTREMELY overpriced for the quality of the room. There was some holes in the cabin at the front door and on the back of the cabin, the floor of the cabin was dirty, there was no bin for rubbish and nowhere to hang and wet clothes that we had from walking all day. The bed made so much noise when you turned in it that my husband had to go into the single bed. Bedding was clean though. Staff in the bar area were really pleasant. Dinner was good but over priced. Never had breakfast because I felt £12:50 was too expensive for the level of hotel.

Single women traveling alone might think twice about staying here. I rented apartment 16, which had an entrance around to the side where all the staff stay in campers. The door didn?t lock well. There was a bunch of debris around the entrance. And the bedroom in the apartment had a very creepy vibe. One whole wall was mirrored sliding doors to a large closet, but I couldn?t open the closet doors to see what was in there. There were electrical cords strung from the building to the staff campers. And several of the electrical fixtures in the apartment didn?t work. I?ve added photos of the entrance to the apartment.

Shared kitchen area is outdated, unsafe and woefully inadequate. Microwave perched on a plank of wood atop an electric hob is just a fire waiting to happen. Only one working tap and no hot water at all.
Shower and toilet facilities are inadequate for number of guests. They NEVER had any toilet paper or hand soap. Impossible to get shower temperature to a comfortable level and one shower I used was cold all the time.
No sign of any cleaning taking place and shared facilities just feel dirty and neglected.
Campers in tents are pitching far too close to cabins making the site feel very overcrowded and just adding to the issues with shared facilities.
Smokers smoking in amongst tents and wooden cabins with no no smoking signs anywhere in sight.
Our cabin (Kabin 4) has an exposed mains electrical wire running on the ground with exposed armour shielding, another accident waiting to happen. The cabin has no space to hang clothing and is cramped inside for two adults with one child. It has a tiny little outdoor seating area and positioned at the walkway making it very uncomfortable to try and sit / eat outdoors being affected by the aforementioned smokers. Other cabins looked better positioned.
Given the high price, this was a rather disappointing and uncomfortable stay.

Understaffed. About twenty tables in the restaurant and bar. Two staff! Hopeless.
Went to the village pub The Tailrace.
Rooms in the main hotel are tired, towels threadbare and amenities not great, but bed was comfortable.

Food was superb, scenic view by the lake, campsite area is small. Hot shower is the best of 6 nights doing West Highland Way.
