Dirty rooms, no personnel, free breakfast though: coffee, tea, milk, sweet buns. To expensive for what's offered, nice bikeroute.

Got a great rate for a single night in the Spey suite - lovely bed, private bathroom and loads of space! Everything was functional and well managed - with the exception being a slight mishap with the key safe, which I was walked through over the phone by the manager. Great location in terms of walking down into Kingussie for dinner since the hotel doesn't have its own catering facilities, as well as brilliant transport access from the A9 with dedicated on and off slips into Kingussie as opposed to other junctions. Would definitely stay again!

Quite the disappointment. No personnel on site and a rather dirty room.
Gave off a spooky vibe everywhere in the hotel. Seems this used to be a luxury hotel back in the day as some of the furnishing was quite expensive looking.
Upon arrival there were dirty dishes in the lounge area on a common table. When we left the next day they were still there.
A weird combination of old, dirty and not well maintained.
We initially booked a room with a bath, but there was none. Not that we cared that much because the cleanliness was sub par so we would not have taken a bath anyway.
Not a recommendation at all

A great budget accommodation to explore the cairngorms. Room had all the basics and a nice powerful shower too. Appreciated the grab and go breakfast selection too. Only issue was that the blinds needed replacing as they were really dirty. Everything else was really clean though especially considering we were in the pet friendly room.

For £50 per night, don't expect much. Gave up on the shower after standing in cold water for 10 minutes.

Really enjoyed staying at Columba house, clean, room and bathroom (with bath) were large, grab and go breakfast which you could eat in the dining area was a nice inclusion, comfy bed, quiet even though near train line, quick walks to cafe and restaurants.

... its pretty bad. apparently an old hotel that was bought and never refurbished. paint falling off the walls. whole house would need vacuuming. dead rabbit in the garden. dust and dirt here and there. no staff to be found anywhere. since i was not able to perform automatic checkin i never got the code for the key locker... so i had to call some person on the moon twice to retrieve my key. the whole place is... its ok if you only want to sleep one night... but other than that its bad. real bad

As happened to an earlier reviewer too, our room was downgraded without notification or a forthcoming compensation.
Any hotel that doesn?t give you what you pay for and needs to be dragged to recognise it is ?one star? and to be avoided.

Amazing place! I would recommend to anyone who wants a nice room in a quite location for a reasonable price. I booked a family room, with a double and a single bed and a private bathroom - perfect for 3 people, me, my brother and my mum. Great communication with the staff and a self check-in/out, which made it all as simple as it gets. Columba House is also close to Ben Macdui and Lochan Uaine, which are fantastic places to visit when you're in the area. I had a great time and so did my family. Thank you:)
