Cracking wee restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff absolutely lovely. Well priced for the quality of food as well. Really nice for a night out.

The food was great however, I would not recommend this venue for a large group booking.
We dined as a party of 13 and were asked to submit a pre-order a few days in advance which was completely reasonable given the size of our group. While I appreciated this level of organization, the overall service on the day was disappointing.
There were long waits between courses, and used plates were left on the table for quite some time before being cleared. Despite having submitted our orders ahead of time, we ended up being there for over three and a half hours. I found myself repeatedly approaching the staff to request service, which I hate doing but needed to be done.
It also appeared that only two or three staff members were managing both the bar and restaurant areas, which likely contributed to the delays. Given that our booking was made in advance, it would have been reasonable to expect adequate staffing for the size of our party.
The seating arrangement was also not ideal, we were placed in a small back area, divided between two tables, one of which was positioned behind the other. This made conversation awkward and disjointed. The room itself became increasingly warm and uncomfortable, and unfortunately, the windows could not be opened which made the heat unbearable.
That said, the food itself was great, and I would recommend this restaurant for smaller groups or couples. However, based on this experience, I would not suggest it for larger gatherings or celebrations.

Lovely atmosphere and great food. We went for the 2 mains and 2 drinks for £20.
Missed the restaurant entrance and went into the bar/pub and drew looks from the regulars.
Limited parking but we managed fine on our visit

Cracking pub, great menu of drink and food. The steak pie was outstanding, and the place is dog friendly - with their own menu! Well worth a trip

The food was excellent, the staff were very attentive and informative about the menu
We came in just before the place filled up and even with six customers it felt warm and cozy. When it did get busy the atmosphere changed again to a bustling friendly and felt like the place to be
I gave it four stars because nobody is perfect ?

I've been here a few times with family, kids, grandkids, etc, and always really good. Foods lovely, staff really pleasant and upbeat. We booked for a couples night out, and the place wasn't particularly busy, but we were seated right next to family with 2 young kids, very noisy, resulting in us being unable to have a conversation due to the usual kids antics. I have no issues with this as kids/parents need to socialise, but why put obvious couple no kids right next to family table when plenty other tables could have been offered.
We will try other places before returning. Maybe a little bit of thought could be considered when seating people with no kids on the booking.

The Scarecrow is a pleasant bar and grill offering a reasonable selection of good pub grub. It is roughly L-shaped with a raised area near the bar and a lower area past the kitchen. The lower area has two interesting pictures with history of Kilsyth and the pub itself. Part of the pub was once a bike shop which explains why there is a bike on one wall. A nice touch was having a small dish of crackers with our drinks before ordering our food. We were all happy with our choices of Macaroni, Steak Pie, Fish n? Chips and Chicken Tacos. Service was warm and friendly.

The scarecrow held my mums funeral tea today. They were amazing and the food supplied was outstanding with plenty to go around. Lauren and her team were kind, caring and compassionate. Definately book the scarecrow for any function. The prices were so reasonable.
