“Brilliant nursery, the staff are great and my children LOVE going there. They're turning into wonderful little people and Shortlees ECC has had a big part in that.”

“My daughter attends the communication centre and I cannot applaud this school and centre enough! My daughter is autistic, she went from completely non verbal, to now singing at home. From not being able to even sit down for 1 min to give me eye to eye contact and having a little conversation with me. The effort, the time, the energy... the fact she wants to go to school, happily in the mornings makes me feel at ease knowing she is enjoying school. She loves her routine, teachers, and fellow peers in her class. Even being the only girl in her class... it doesn’t faze her. Thank you for helping get the best out of Sophie ”

“I recently just left Grange academy in early June, 2022. I had a great experience none the less but the school can be a little behind on bullying and don’t usually do much to stop it in class as I struggled with getting help to stop a girl in one of my classes when I was still a junior and this made me feel less confident about how truly cared about I really was in this school. Some teachers are lovely like Mrs Gray In Art & Design, she’s such a kind person and is amazing at understanding teenagers. I don’t know if it’s too far to say this but I considered her to be as a second mother to me and I wish I could make this all about her as I already miss her so much and I genuinely wouldn’t have been able to be myself without her as she was the best motivator for my work and to keep being strong when I felt down. The English department is a great place to be, amazing teachers including all of science as the ladies in science this year helped support me with getting ready for prom and made an amazing hot drink station for the staff which I helped write the names as part of my volunteering. I just know they are also going to do amazing with the yearbook when we get those in August! At the time I was tending to spend a lot of my days in English and Art & Design as they were the most happy and quiet places to hang out when I had nothing to do in my volunteering booklet. The janitor’s are lovely to talk to and really helpful, just don’t lose their allen keys if you ever need them to open the plastic display boards as we spent 2 years trying to find the last pair. The classroom assistants are amazing people to talk to if you ever need support, they can help get someone to support you with whatever you need. The new headteacher on the other hand.. is something I don’t know much about but I have heard he’s been quite unsettled with the way grange academy runs so far due to some disturbing few last weeks of s6 and how that last day of school went with the fire alarm going off and eggs being thrown about which is a grange tradition for senior prank day but it does end up hurting people despite it being a symbol of trust within the older pupils. I am hopeful he is able to change the mess of this school even though our last head teacher, Mrs Johnston was chill and relaxed about the pupils (most of the time) but I think that may have been the problem in the first time and the downfall In the first place and people will maybe come to appreciate the new head teacher’s expectations someday instead of slagging him off for his first few changes to uniform and school days. Please notice that everyone’s experience is different from mines and maybe that’s just because we don’t click onto certain people like others do so it’s okay to dislike someone or something. That’s just human nature. Best wishes at grange.”
