I always find the library staff to be very helpful and efficient. Kilbirnie is lucky to have this place which acts as a hub for the community.

Very clean and bright library.Good choice of books and audiobooks.Computers for hire and access to printers.Child library is exceptional and have lots of activites for children - Lego clubs, after school clubs, bookbugs etc.Staff are exceptional, always friendly and always happy to help you. Some asides is that they offer coffee, usually have a jigsaw to help with and copies of the days newspapers.

Kilbirnie's library is split into two sections when you walk in the door, so it's pretty easy to either navigate yourself to the wide variety of kids books or direct yourself to the adult section. It's reasonably sized but incredibly stocked for the space they have available to them! When you walk in the door you're hit with a revolving bookcase full of Mills and Boon (guilty pleasure....ask me no quesitons), crime fiction and popular books. They also have a healthy selection of gardening books, cookery books and a bookshelf dedicated to recent book-turned-film adaptations. Speaking of movies, they not only have a spattering of videos left for those with VHS, but a good collection of DVD's - cheaper than the DVD rental store, but you didn't hear it from me... What impressed me the most, however, was an exciting collection of Western books with quite possibly the most animated covers I've ever seen. That, above all else, will get me going back, but on a broader scale there's a little something for everyone in here. Good choices for light reading, an audio book and music CD choice and exciting books for kids - with the additional community evenings they host this library's a good meeting place for Kilbirnie's culture vultures.

Friendly staff who are pleased to see you and have a chat. Good range of books and the staff happy to order in any books you need. Closed Wednesday.Unusual opening hours, check before you go. I've often made a special trip only to find it closed!
