A luxury hotel in the middle of the Caingorms mountains. The style is a bit mixed. Not only Victorian but also others, such as Art Deco. Great stuff like two Picasso, close to modern architecture objects not part of the ascottish tradition. Comfortable rooms, but two floors have a roof that is a bit low. I find it a bit overpriced.

Lunch at Flying Stag was good, we reserved a table before we left Australia only to be seated on a shared long central common table with others. The soup and black pudding bon bons divine. Cocktails were too sweet. Beautiful highland venue.

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend. The best part for me was the whiskey experience. I was reunited with my favourite whiskey. Ben Nevis if I recall.Nearby activities: So close to the lovely mountains and the fresh air!! Worth it for a special treat.

My stay at The Fife Arms was simply perfect and magnificent. The restaurants were superb, offering exceptional gastronomy, and the wine list was excellent, complementing each meal exquisitely. The staff stood out for their professionalism and warm hospitality, adding a personal touch to every interaction. The impeccable service greatly contributed to making our stay incredibly enjoyable. One of the standout experiences was the one-hour guided tour of the hotel's art pieces. It was a fascinating dive into history and culture, unexpectedly enriching our stay.I have nothing but praise for The Fife Arms, and needless to say, I plan to return. I highly recommend this establishment to those seeking an exceptional hotel experience, combining luxury, impeccable service, and a unique artistic setting.

Had lunch in the Flying Stag bar today, we'd had a great lunch here a couple years ago so decided to return to celebrate a big birthday. We were shown to our reserved table; which was covered in crumbs as was the seating.Venison burger was good, fish pie was surprisingly small and with nothing on the side.Had to wait ages ( must have been about 25mins) for our dirty dishes to be taken away, the place didn't seem busy and a member of staff was busy chatting to a couple of girls. From asking for the dessert menu it took 15mins for the menu to appear. We both had the millionaire chou which was rather tasteless and very disappointing. We would have had coffees but by this point we were losing the will to live.Service was incredibly slow; the staff didn't seem busy.If you're looking for somewhere a bit special for lunch, this is not it, such a shame how this place has gone downhill.

We (used to) often go here for drinks and food. It?s a beautiful place in an amazing landscape and we have never had any problems. Unfortunately the other day we were very disappointed as we were turned away for drinks as we were not staying at the hotel. We could see into the coffee room where many people were being served with a lot of free tables. It felt snooty and we felt looked down on- went away feeling like our bank accounts weren?t big enough for their requirements, quite sad.

My wife and I stayed at the Fife Arms for 6 nights in November and we were nothing short of blown away from the moment we entered to when we had to (sadly) leave. For somewhere that has been recently refurbished, the hotel has this timeless and lived in, old Victorian atmosphere which makes you feel at home almost instantly. Food, drink, staff, setting were all superb and will definitely be back again. As an additional note - we came with our dog and the staff couldn't have been more helpful to accommodate us, even setting the table in a secluded part of the lobby by a fireplace so we could have drinks/dinner with him throughout our stay. I would say definitely dog friendly here, unlike other hotels where your dog is merely tolerated!Rooms: Only stayed in one room but as I understand are all individually themed and styled. Overall very cosy and warm and a wonderful place to relax and enjoy.Walkability: Great location in the centre of Braemar. Easy to walk around and visit shops and cafes. Plenty of excellent walks in the surrounding area which can be self guided or the hotel can arrange guided tours which are excellent.Food & drinks: Gastropub style food which was all delicious which Scottish touches throughout. Great wine and beer selections and enjoyed some lovely cocktails in the bar. Berties Whiskey bar was incredible, well worth a visit - the staff are incredibly charming and knowledgable and will be sure to find a drink to suit all tastes.
