Ate here in may 2023. Good fries, but unfortunately frozen fish. Considering the location, it's really quite sad and disappointing.

I?ve heard rumours that they had the best haggis around (locally caught) and they did not disappoint. Me and my partner absolutely loved the food and the chef. We enjoyed it so much we came back for more. 100%

Whilst doing the NC500 we stopping at the camp site at John O?Groats and found this amazing little place!!We were only just in time for food (thank goodness, it was a long day), but we were met by a lovely smiley team who were more than helpful with everything we asked, even if we might have been a little awkward not knowing what we wanted to start with.We had such a lovely time talking to others while waiting for food and when the food did come, this was just as lovely! We weren?t sure what to expect but this was definitely something we would be coming back for.Even after our trip I wanted a hoody they had for sale and they have been lovely enough to offer to send me one to my house all the way in oxford! We will be back!!

Really let down by the quality of food here. Ordered the fish and chips, would expect a high quality product being so close to the sea and a very popular location. The batter was a weird texture and the fish was definitely not fresh. Cheap selection of condiments to boot. Would not recommend.

Frozen fish and chips Expensive for poor food. Should be fresh product for the price we paid £9 just a rip off TBH. Just because we are tourists DO NOT RIP US OFF PLEASE.

I don't like leaving 2 or 3 star reviews, but I want to be honest in case we visit the area again (and for balance). This was a big let down for us. The food was poor in my opinion. I feel it may have been frozen fish and not a full fish as I'd expected for the money. Was nearly £10 for a fish and chips. My kids (8 and 10) likened it to one we'd had days before from Farmfoods (Young's or similar). Service was fine and the place is alright. We were expecting a lovely fresh fish supper by the sea and this was nothing like it unfortunately... maybe we were unlucky as it was near to last orders (6pm).

Probably the best chips I?ve ever had. I know it?s just chips but you have to try these. Freshly prepared and served with a smile too.

Ordered Fish and Chips. The server was quite rude when I asked if we could have a closed box. Her response was that " It's a waste if you aren't going far." Fish was frozen and tasteless. I would definitely not recommend having fishh and chips from this place. £9.00 for frozen fish is a rip off!!!

You are less than 20m from the sea, please bear this is nind.... We ordered fish and chips for two, roughly £20 for two. As we waited, a Breaks van arrived.... We were served the most bland, dry , grey, tasteless fish and chips ever ingested by a human being. This van is literally 20m from the sea. It gets its fish from a company called Breaks. A company who wholesale across the UK. Again, this van is 20m from the sea. I could have gotten fresher fish from the center of Birmingham. Utterly bonkers. Try somewhere else. Madness. Utter madness. Save your money, have a sausage roll from Annie's bakery down the road. Utter bonkers, the worst fish and chips in the UK - bar none. Cheers Matt

Visited in 2020, 2021, & June 2023, & made the effort to visit The Cabin every time. We went on 3 different occasions on this visit, had breakfast rolls, a midmorning snack, & fish & chips supper. I also managed to get the last slice of homemade Salted Caramel & Butterscotch cheesecake. YUM YUM! No better food, value & quality in the Highlands. Generous portions, as swift as the queues will allow, as they're understandably very popular, & always friendly. On the NC500 too, & they even sell the T Shirts & merchandise, which is great. Not to be missed!

So disappointed, right by the sea and you get frozen fish, infact, tiny bit of frozen fish. Pretty horrible.

You get to the top of Scotland/Britain, and you want some sustenance? Check out The Cabin!Set in a lovely port-adjacent cabin in the glorious John ?O Groats, The Cabin offers travellers a great selection of hot and cold snacks, sweets and drinks, including the classic fish and chips! How on Earth the folks manage to coordinate their whole operation in such tight working conditions seems like magic, but they somehow make it work!Seating is outside and provided by a couple of picnic benches, so best to go when the weather is nicer! A beautiful spot provides stunning scenery whilst you enjoy your tasty snacks.
