We stayed here 7 months ago & had a fantastic experience. The rooms were so comfortable and perfect for our needs with an 11 month old. The location was perfect for walking to many places. The restaurant for breakfast every morning was amazing & so delicious, as was our dinner there one evening. The bar was so nice & we enjoyed listening to the music one evening with the locals. Our first visit to Islay was made perfect by staying here! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!Rooms: We had 2 rooms. They were spacious & well maintained. Very comfortable & clean.Walkability: Perfect to stroll along the beach area, visit local restaurants, pubs, the Islay Winery, etc.Food & drinks: The hotel restaurant was perfect for our breakfast daily & the choices were all delicious. Our dinner one evening was equally as good. The hotel bar was comfortable & welcoming to enjoy a Guiness or a dram.

We dined in the restaurant for lunch with a large group of 10 including small children. We were able to walk in without a reservation and we seated straight away. Restaurant staff were super friendly and patient with kids. Menu was creative and had options for dietary requirements/allergies including gluten free and dairy free. Portions were large and food high quality and delicious.Cosy atmosphere. Plenty of free street parking. Dog friendly. Definitely recommend.

Lovely dinner with a inch of creativity with the traditional local staples. I would highly recommend the crab and peat smoked mussels entree which was delicious and the venison fruit pie with peat smoked mash and a whisky sauce. Also they feature décents wines (I know we are in whisky territory but we all need a break now and then!) offerings are typical and appropriate with reasonable prices. Service is fast and friendly but booking are essential to get in.

Beautiful hotel! We actually came here just for breakfast. We came with a group and we got the Scottish breakfast, the salmon croissant and the ham and cheese croissant.Everything was very good! We also ordered latte's and Americano coffee. Everything was great! Would highly recommend.

The room was spacious & comfortable and the shower worked well. The food was excellent at breakfast & dinner in the hotel dining room. Best of all we?re the friendly & helpful staff. One of us had a bad cold & stayed in our room for 3 days &nites to try to recover & not spread the cold. The staff brought up meals & helped us however they could. They made us feel very welcome.

Dropped in for dinner after harrowing trip on Scottish roads to have one of best meals of our trip accompanied by a great French wine. The only way it could have got better is if the host was convivial and helpful and then we found out he was.

As we walked around Port Ellen with our dogs looking for somewhere to grab a coffee, we came across this hotel, Emily served us in the bar area and was great. The coffee and cakes were great and she was very helpful when it came to looking for dog friendly places to eat and drink. Thank you Emily

The restaurant is incredible. Chef?s creativity and execution makes it a Michelin experience. The crab starter, langoustine, peat smoked mash, venison with juniper sauce, whiskey sorbet? They use Ardberg in food and we were amazed by the lavishness. Later we learned that the hotel is now owned by LVMH which owns Ardberg. The bathrooms can be nicer in the rooms, but this food makes our stay unforgettable. Thank you chef!

I appreciate it not being a buffet but from a menu. Seems less wasteful.

Stayed at the Islay Hotel for three nights in June. Room was super clean and outfitted with vintage furniture. Breakfasts and Dinners were outstanding - definitely get the oysters! Excellent wine selection. Nigel and staff were welcoming and helpful. The Three Distilleries Path (Laphroig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg) is beautiful and starts just a couple blocks from the hotel. Highly recommended!
