What a wonderful place! It's a beautiful historic building with a traditional Scottish feel, but all the mod-cons you'd need in your room. The setting is perfect. It sits in a small valley, with a burn burbling along at the bottom of the garden. It's a 10 or 15 minute stroll to the beach, and very close to the Lagg distillery for Whisky lovers. The rooms - mine at least: I stayed in "Bramble" - are perfect. Lovely high ceiling; french doors opening to the garden where I could see red squirrels; very comfy bed and a great bathroom with a wet-room style shower. Much more up-market than the hotel's 3 stars suggests. The service was amazing. It's family run, with Lee and Jules clearly dedicated to making their guests as welcome as possible. The food was great - especially the breakfasts. In the evenings the bar fills up with locals who are friendly, welcoming and great to chat to There's a fantastic pool table too. This bar is a little bit away from the guests so it's silent in the bedrooms if you fancy an early night.A really memorable stay, for all the right reasons. I'll definitely be coming back to The Lagg!

Wonderful hotel. We stayed in The Campbell suite and it was wonderful, such a comfortable bed. The service was warm and welcoming and the food was especially delicious!

Stopped in at the Lagg Bar, adjoining the hotel, on a quiet Sunday for a light refreshment and a bite to eat. It is mainly just a bar but also offered home made soup and sausage rolls which were amazing (please don?t change the sausage roll recipe). Will definitely make it a regular stop off and would recommend if you?re about the south end of Arran.

The proprietors, Jules & Lee, are among the most hospitable welcoming people I?ve ever encountered. Lee is passionate about his gastronomy, especially slow cooking and apart from a varied menu offers a daily special at dinner. At lunch there is a lovely homemade soup and his own make tasty sausage roll with perfect puff pastry.A cooked breakfast is included, with a vegetarian option as well cereals and gluten free porridge.Noteworthy details: This hotel is ?dog friendly? and safety conscious. The beer garden and sun lounge offer a wonderful haven of peace for those escaping the hurly burly of modern life and popular tourist resorts. It?s in an ideal location for hill walking and cycling. The weather on Arran is usually mild but often rainy.

Stopped off here for a coffee and soup and found the hotel lovely. Lots of black & white photos on the walls and the young chap that looked after us was very polite, chatty and had great customer service

Really enjoyed our stay in the Lagg in May. The hosts are lovely, great chat, and they were very accommodating with our late arrival (we were the band for a wedding at Dougarie Boathouse up the road). The double room was comfortable, and the full Scottish breakfast was excellent. There?s plenty parking, and the location is peaceful, with a large garden and wooded area. Meeting the owners? dog Mia was a bonus! Many thanks from us all at The Brogues Ceilidh Band :)

Nice room comfortable bed, bath is quite high to get into the shower, should have a non-slip mat. Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful especially the young lad, should have asked him his name. Breakfast was lovely The only fault was the evening menu, it was my birthday on Sat so wanted something a bit special (not a burger) ordered the steak but very disappointed, very chewy, left it. 1st night had fish & chips, nice, but the menu is very much a pub bar one, would have liked more of a nice evening menu, perhaps lamb, roast chicken etc...overall a nice hotel maybe a bit pricey.

Under new ownership. Made to very very welcome by owners, staff and locals alike. Nice meal in the restaurant and great hot/cold breakfast in the morning with lots of choice. We had an upstairs room overlooking the gorgeous garden and river. It was very clean and comfortable. There is another beautiful, peaceful garden opposite the Inn for guest use. I had an image of Arran in my head, but the actual has far surpassed that. Let's not forget cute doggo Mía too. Will return

Great experience! Lovely relaxed B&B, great service, awesome food and small bar with lovely atmosphere.Rooms: Loads of character with everything you need. Very comfortable, great base for the south side of the island and great place to relax.Walkability: Great 10 minute walk through the woods to get to the beach, which never gets busy. Good views of the west of Scotland, great coast views and the waterfall was pretty majestic.Food & drinks: Food is EXCELLENT! Great breakfast, loved the Arran black pudding, and the pastries are a very nice touch. Booking required for evening food, well worth it. Good selection for dietary requirements. Recommend the burger, sausage & mash and the halloumi.Vast selection Whisky from the island at the bar, so make sure to sample a few during your stay.Noteworthy details: Lovely old building full of character, charm and history. Location and scenery you will struggle to beat.

This inn was our best stay in Scotland. We like character, friendly hosts, good food and a quiet lovely setting. The historic Lagg Hotel has all that. Lovely sunroom looking across beautiful grounds to rushing stream. Cozy bar and restaurant with many great options. Breakfast offered ability to choose your own combinations rather than standard heavy Scottish breakfast. Jules and Lee were a great help to us. We would stay here again, it's lovely.

Brilliant B&B to rest and relax or just use it on your journey around the island or as a base to explore from. Amazing old building full of charm and character, staff that bring it out even more. Views and surroundings are picturesque. Breakfast is excellent and I would recommend booking for the evening as that is not to be missed.
