We had the most lovely stay here in early April 2022, with three adults and two kids for a few days, to have our first glance at the Isle of Arran. We will definitely come back here, as we were as unlucky with the weather that the ferry might not even depart. But the owner of the B&B was already aware of that when he welcomed us to his lovely place.Even though the restaurant was not open yet, he offered us my very first and most delicious fish and chips for dinner. I think I will be ruined for ever with too high expectations. Also he offered a second meal option if one of us would like the have something different and lit the fireplace every evening for us. So we could enjoy the evenings by the fire, whilst outside the rain and storm were fighting each other. He gave us very nice tips for exploring the Isle, let us taste on of the Whiskeys he had in stock and was taking care that we are fine all time. So I really enjoyed the stay, and can only give my warmest recommendations for this charismatic place and his lovely owner.

Lovely greeting by the hosts and our bags were already upstairs when we arrived from our walk. We especially enjoyed talking with them about the sights in the area. David talked with us about the shops and the local hikes. The entire family were friendly and kind. We ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay and we especially enjoyed the pork tacos! The location is just up the street from the harbor in Blackwaterfoot, very convenient.

We stayed at Blackwaterfoot Lodge during our first trip to the Isle of Arran. It's an outstanding location very close to the sea. The rooms were nice, spacious and clean. Parking was easy right in front of the house. Breakfast was always freshly prepared and fully lived up to our expectations. The restaurant also provided excellent food. In the evening we could enjoy a whisky in the lounge and relax. The hosts Ann, Ian, David and Nick are lovely people, very friendly and helpful at all times. We definitely enjoyed the conversations with all of them. Good value for money!

Professional reviewers may have a more objective style to what they say. This is a guest house rather than, for example, the Pier House Hotel up in Appin, but after 50 miles on the bikes coming over from Jura it was a delightful journey?s end with family-cooked cuisine, a small bar with beautifully kept draft beers, and clean, comfortable rooms. So if I?m too led by my own desire for R&R in this evaluation, guilty as charged, but if they hand out stars for family businesses who bring comfort, quality and a warm welcome in the more remote locations, they get their five stars without any hesitation. Oh and breakfast mushrooms, hash browns and scrambled eggs which would hold a candle up to anywhere. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Room 5 not properly prepared. Had to request room service one day. Room cleaning not thorough. Lack of local information. Dining room bare and unwelcoming - only guests on 3 of our 5 nights, despite showing as fully booked. Unable to find details of restaurant on website, so booked dinner elsewhere. Empty used jam sachets found in breakfast pot. Poor ventilation in bathroom - top window painted in, unwilling to try bottom sash window as cord broken and hanging down (like it for 20 years according to Ian). Good breakfast. Ian responded positively to requests for information and services. Overall impression was that we were not really welcome or wanted.

Visited the restaurant recently, a great night out on a wild weekend weather wise, the lodge provided a welcome retreat! Friendly service, fish and chips and sea bass great, scallops fantastic, hot wings very good. Good house wine by the glass. Fast, friendly, efficient service . Wouldn?t hesitate to visit again in the future.

Three of us booked for dinner on Friday 10th September. My Husband had the Muscles with Crusty bread and I had Salt and Chilli Squid on Tempura Batter, my squid was cooked to perfection and seasoning was just right, I helped my husband with his Muscles as I'm helpful that way and I'm so glad I did. They were absolutely lovely and fresh and plump and plentiful. My friend didn't have a starter as she wanted to leave space for Dessert. We all plumped for the Haddock. This again cooked to perfection beautifully fresh and a light crisp tasty batter with Chips and Tartare Sauce that was equally good. For Dessert I had the Bread and Butter pudding with Arran Gold as suggested by Laith our waiter. This was thee best Bread and Butter pudding I have ever tasted and that includes my Mother's who is now 2nd best. My husband and friend had the beautiful Arran Ice CreamNow onto service Laith was out waiter, I know this not because of any name tags but because he introduced himself. He made sure we were enjoying our meal midway as you'd expect and left the place feeling like I'd met a new friend. What a lovely young man he's a definite keeper for the business. I know where I'll be going for dinner on my next visit. Thank you and keep up the fantastic work ?

This was my second stay at the Blackwaterfoot Lodge. We were made to feel very much at home and the food was delicious. We will most certainly be back.

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights during a holiday on Arran. It?s in a beautiful location with a lovely sandy beach for walking. The hotel is clean, comfortable and decorated in it?s own unique style which is a refreshing change from large chain hotels. We stayed in the self catering loft which was newly refurbished as there wasn?t an en-suite room available. That was only because the loft wasn?t let and we took our breakfast in the hotel. We also had dinner one night. The food was very good and the breakfast was pre ordered so it was all ready for you. The owners and the staff were very accommodating and helpful and the service was excellent. I wouldn?t hesitate to recommend this hotel if you visit Arran.
