Though a little? dated, this hotel straddles the fine line between modern hospitality and old school comfort. It does so well. Breakfast is unfortunately a bit carb heavy and does not really serve vegetarians, but you?re in Scotland, what did you expect?Rooms: Somewhat dated but comfy. The shower was unfortunately not good.

We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Highland Hotel. The staff were all welcoming and accommodating. Our rooms were incredible. I really enjoy the look of the hotel. It has so much history and it is well maintained. Our stay was perfect. We would stay here any time, specially with it being right next to the train station.

People don't do it. As usual, the pictures are more beautiful than reality. The rooms are outdated. Rotting window frames, draughty. Only 1 window can be opened a little. The bathroom is bad. The shower head allows almost no water to pass through, only after removing the shower head did water come out of the pipe. The water is not warm. Not even after an employee had done something about it!!The layers of sealant are torn and there is rust on the wall bracket near the bath. The sheets and towels are not changed daily and what should be considered clean towels etc. are simply lying on the floor or on a dusty shelf in the hallway until they are brought into the room.Do not have your laundry done in the hotel. A small bag of laundry left us with a bill of over £80. A disgrace!!!!WE EVENTUALLY LEFT FROM THIS 'HOTEL' 3 DAYS EARLIER.shouldn't even have that name anymore, call it a guest house.

Mixed reviews on my stay on balance I would stay again.Location is fantastic, right next door to Inverness railway station, its central to most places you need to be in Inverness.Checkin was quick and all staff were friendly. My room was clean and was a decent size and quiet, thats was about it unfortunatly. My bed was two single pushed together, so depending on how 8 slept, it could be uncomfortable as you could feel the dent in the middle, maybe if it was a propper double bed, it would have been a more pleasent sleep. Lots of storage space and safe which is a bonus. My room was also serviced daily (now while not a complaint as such) they provide door hanging things, one been to say you don't want your room serviced to help go green, I put this out but it was ignored, so they ask you to help them go Green but don't actually do it.Breakfast was continental (you can buy a cooked breakfast) but I just stuck with continental. There is everything you'd expect, cereals, toast, fruit, cold meats and pastries. Breakfast area was never busy, and was decent. The lobby is very welcoming with grand staircase, but the rest of the hotel, corridors and rooms, are very dated and could do with a refurb and modernising, it looks like it has not had one for a refurb for a long long time. All in all, it was decent, and on balance, id stay here again.Rooms: Need a good refurbWalkability: Very centrally located.Food & drinks: Bar on site and Continental breakfast was nice.

Needs better care of the rooms and cleanness. Saw clean sheets and towels that were supposed to be used for clean rooms on the floor and dusty windowsill. Also they make the hotel price higher and give a voucher to eat at the Ash Restaurant. The food is average and Restaurant manager rude and attitudinal. The only good thing I'd the location.Walkability: Close to everything, it's attached to the train station.

Was locked out at 730pm. Doors lock at 9pm but I was locked out at 730pm by a disgruntled rude night man who was angry at opening the door. The hotel is set up for weekly coach tours. Don't go at weekends, full breakfasts not catered for.I was a guest room no.15 ground floor [end room]. 8th -10th April 2024 - the photos are of the breakfast buffet table - that was all the choice.

Great location! Window was leaking so it was draughty and a little chilly inside my room.Clean and tidy room. Breakfast was alright. And staff (especially at the breakfast) were really polite and friendly.

Highly recommend - stayed a couple of days and was really welcomed. My dog was welcomed too. Great location and great staff. I would recommend the Ash restaurant too- the kale fritters were superb. All round - thank you!

Can?t say how much we loved it here.Brilliant service. Lovely spacious rooms, with great finishing touches. Warm Scottish old fashioned feel. Right next to the train station. Lovely different types of art scattered throughout the hotel depending on your taste.Location ideal for restaurants, sites, music and river.Good selection in room for coffees and teas as well as some whiskey glasses!Vending machine downstairs incase you have forgotten anything like chargers or snacks. Old books available if you?d like some quiet time to sit in a seperate lounge or in your room.Good restaurant and bar. Good Wi-Fi. Good flat screen tv. Extra blankets in the wardrobe if you get chill. Very quiet considering we were right next to the train station.Lifts available if needed but recommend a walk up the stairs and different lobbies.Only thing I would recommend is 2 keys incase travelling with a business partner etc.Nearby activities: Plenty live music around at most pubs. Almost any types of restaurants around. Local grocery stores.Safety: No issues at all about safety.Noteworthy details: Better deals directly booking through the hotel.

We really enjoyed my stay here and will return to the hotel the next time we stay over in Inverness. The inside felt warm and welcoming and the staff were friendly and helpful, the ladies that were on reception throughout our visit were very friendly helpful and polite. The double staircase and the decor hark back to a more decadent time. Loved it.Rooms: The room was big enough for the two of us and had everything that we needed for our stay.Safety: Felt at home here and the place felt very safe.Walkability: Right next to the station and within a short walk to the multi storey car park.
