The Gordon Arms Resaurant with rooms defies logic. It is miles from any major town yet it provides comfortable rooms and Michelin style food at a price that is affordable. Oxana and Bryn are experts in making you feel at home in Oxana's case and in Bryn's providing you with food that would grace a top London restaurant. This is one of only two places I come back to because of the quality of the experience. We are treated like royalty when we arrive at the door and from then on we enjoy fine dining food and service that top quality restaurants and hotels can only aspire to. They have won many accolades and all of them are won through hard work and dedication to providing their clients with a standard of experience that would be expected to command a price twice what they charge. The dining area is a comfortable yet old style space with wooden tables round place mats and linen napkins, calming non intrusive background music and a welcoming atmosphere. Oxana has trained her serving staff to a high standard and they go about their duties with happy smiles and cheerful conversation. It is also a pleasure to see that Bryn (mostly tied to the kitchen ) is traing up staff who sometimes help at front of house and are eager to talk about the enjoyment they get out of working and learning from Bryn..

First time visit for lunch with my wife at The Gordon Arms. Great situation and a very scenic drive from Selkirk. The dining room is simple but stylish and comfortable with a good atmosphere. The menu choice, for a lunchtime, was very good and all of the 6 dishes we ordered were of a very high standard, with my wife's locally sourced pork main dish probably the pick. Service was very good - relaxed but attentive, and overall value, given the standard of the cooking, was excellent. If you're looking for a restaurant in the Scottish Borders that majors on provenance, locally sourced ingredients and quality cooking, The Gordon Arms is well worth a visit.

We very much enjoyed our short stay at the Gordon arms...Oxana and Brynn run a delightful establishment.
The food is very good indeed and the wine list, while short, is very well selected.
A very special place

We loved our first visit to The Gordon Arms for lunch yesterday. There was a great variety to choose from on the menu, it was presented really well and tasted fab. The ambience is just right, and the pace was perfect. And good value because the food was excellent. In a lovely setting too.... Will return. Thank you.

Visited for Sunday lunch. Drove over the backroad from Traquair. It?s a B road so you need to take care for sheep, cyclist, walkers and other cars as it is narrow in places. A wonderful welcome when we arrived to a busy restaurant. Food was excellent, home grown tomatoes were a taste sensation! Restaurant prides itself on local produce and when the quality is this good, why wouldn?t you. Roast beef was excellent and cooked to our preference. Our first visit but will definitely be back. Not the cheapest meal but excellent value given the quality.

Very disappointed with dinner menu.
Trimmings for steak main course consisted of one grilled tomato & all of 10 chips!
Carrots, onion rings, cauliflower/broccoli florets could very easily be supplied from freezer stock seeing the venue is rather isolated & only open at weekends.
A surcharge of £8 for the steak was an absolute rip off especially when it's not even the prime cut from the animal!
Much better value for money can easily be obtained from nearby towns all within half an hour travelling distance

We had dinner bed & breakfast and it was lovely.
Food was delicious.
The owner (chef)& his wife ( front of house& everything else too!) were very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.
They were very Pet friendly which suited us and our dog too.
Our room was clean, comfortable and very nicely presented.
We would definitely recommend this place for its hospitality, friendliness and great food.
Thank you .

We love this place! We are returning customers and we will continue to be. Oxana, Bryn and staff are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are lovely, food is devine and the area is peaceful. I would highly recommend a visit to stay or book for a meal. Thank you for always making us and our little dog feel welcome ?
