Visited here on our way home from a fab break with family in Cullen. Coffee shop lovely, very reasonable prices with helpful and friendly staff. The shop had lots of different goods to purchase.

I have been going to Dean's for years, and have always liked the cafe. However, I feel it is going rapidly downhill. We went here for lunch with friends and had to wait close to an hour after we had ordered food, and even then they got one order wrong. Also, you don't get a bit of shortbread with the coffee anymore. On the plus side, they reasonable vegetarian and vegan options.

I am a huge fan of Dean's shortbread which is the best in my opinion. However lunch at their bistro recently was poor at best. Long wait, hard thin toastie, insipid soup and bloomer bread served to my wife still frozen. Expensive for what you got...the burger at £12 + did not even come with chips. Won't be back.

Not what I expected from such historic business. Surrounding area very drab and uninviting. Inside the shop and bistro are lovely shame the same couldn't be said of the scones, jam and cream cheese scone was very anaemic on the inside and hard as rock on the outside and tasteless. The smoothie was lovely. Service was ok a bit chaotic ?

Definitely gone down hill. Was only in for coffee and cake but coffee was lukewarm and served in a very small mug. To be fair lemon cake was fresh and tasty but the combo was poor value. The upstairs seating has largely been replaced with more retail space. There are other options in Huntly for meals, snacks, coffees etc but Deans need to up their game if they want to maintain market share.

Went there for lunch what's happened it was always good. No meals on menu burgers was the special none left only sandwiches and panini . Asked if there was bacon rolls was told sausage and egg poor for a Sunday lunch egg was hard and dried up was so disappointing it was funny ? won't be back. Should have taken a photo ? never seen a egg like that no yoke.

My husband and I had Afternoon Tea at Dean's of Huntly, famous makers of Scotland's delicious shortbread. We booked in advance and the lady who took the booking had a very cheery, friendly voice on the phone. On arriving at Dean's we entered through their gift shop, which along with their food products, sold a lovely selection of ladieswear, accessories, gifts and toys. There was also a viewing window to watch how the shortbread mixing processes were carried out. When we mentioned to the shop assistant that we were having Afternoon Tea she immediately introduced us to Sandra, the restaurant supervisor, who was extremely, welcoming and efficient. Then she led us upstairs and into a lovely area of comfortable dining booths which overlooked the packing department of the business where, through glass windows, you could see the employees busy at their work. The "tea" was then brought to us on a three-tiered cake stand and included a wonderous display of food all of which were fresh, attractive and tasty. We were served copious amounts of tea nad coffee and in the end, having eaten all we could, she offered us a box to take the remaining things on the plates, home with us. Which we accepted as they were too good to go to waste. On leaving, we had time to browse the additional shopping departments upstairs. There was kitchen and cookery ware, jewellery, gifts as well as more ladies fashion and accessories. All the staff seemed very efficient and enjoying their work. We would recommend Dean's to anyone visiting the area and they also serve breakfasts and lunches and have a separate coffee shop and ample parking.

Stopped for a coffee and to look at the shop during a visit to the area. Coffee hot and a good price. The Included little packet of shortbread was a nice surprise. Pleased to see the boxes of factory second shortbread are back! The Shop was well stocked and we bought a number of reasonably priced yet good quality items. Staff on the till were excellent. Efficient and friendly. We enjoyed our visit.

I have been a customer for many years and am sad to say our visit was really disappointing. The place has changed a lot , and not in a good way . The upstairs seating area has been changed into a gift shop. , reducing the size of the restaurant by at least half capacity. The tables downstairs are all cramped together in a really awkward way . The menu used to be good home cooked food - macaroni, stovies , steak pie , fish etc - nothing like this on the menu anymore . New menu - sandwiches, panini, baked tatties. We had the Cullen skink - watery and the tatties still had skins on and were cut into big chunks . Baked tattie with chilli and cheese - was meant to have sour cream but that was missing from the plate . £9.99 is a bit steep price wise for a baked tattie compared to other local places . Sadly the restaurant has lost its charm of being local old fashioned home cooking. The gift shop down stairs is really dark too . As a customer/ visitor to the area if you are looking for a varied menu with great home cooked food head down to Kellockbank near Insch . It seems that Deans are trying to create the gift shop / eating experience of Kellockbank and Morgan Mcveighs but sadly the food, service and atmosphere doesn?t hit the mark . Such a shame as this was a brilliant place to eat pre Covid . I hope it can return to this standard again .
