A very interesting visit. Our guide, Neil, was knowledgeable and informative, enlightening us on the origins of the house as Lethington Tower in the 1300s when it was owned by the Maitland family. He explained how it became known as Lennoxlove in the 18th century & that it was purchased by the 14th Duke & Duchess of Hamilton relatively recently (1946) and became the family seat. We learnt much of their family history illustrated by an extensive collection of portraits and other memorabilia, much of which originates from the long-demolished Hamilton Palace. As several reviewers have mentioned, signposting could be better coming out of Haddington & we initially drove past the entrance to the estate. In addition, some of the limited labelling of exhibits could be enhanced and it would be nice to see some labelling of some of the furniture. However well worth visiting.

A beautiful historical house built in the 1300 owned by the Maitland family with strong Royal links. Bought by the Hamiltons in the 1700s also links to Royalty. Interesting tours with beautiful paintings and antiques to see. Worth a visit if you love History . As it's lived in the gardens are private but we must remember although it's open 3 times a week in the summer this is still a family home .

I am so very glad to have visited this place today - the house is full of rich history. It was so nice to learn more about The Dukes and Duchesses of Hamilton and the meaning behind the name 'Lennoxlove'.The tour guide was especially nice, friendly, and humble. It is definitely a house worth visiting; Haddington itself is a very beautiful town.More signposting is recommended to encourage people to visit more often alongside an updated website. We called in advance but no one picked up. We did not receive a confirmation email of our booking. I would also recommend to advertise the place via social media as this would attract visitors. On the whole, a very nice experience!

Was originally advised to visit here after getting a tour of Kinneil estate, which was previously a Hamilton family property. As I was told some relics from the time of the Hamilton Palace could be found there. As someone from Hamilton who had done a personal study on the Hamilton Palace grounds/Mausoleum as well as the Chatelherault hunting lodge - it was a no brainer to go!The bonus was seeing some artifacts from the Stewarts. It was just the two of us on the tour, guided by the lovely Isobel. She was very knowledgeable and warm and had gathered a lot of stories from her 30 years of working at the estate.Grounds were gorgeous, although we didn't have time to wander as we'd booked another excursion elsewhere nearby.Definitely worth a visit.Only thing I'd maybe highlight is there is no real signposting on where to park or where to enter for the tours. Thankfully someone in the estate office pointed us in the right direction.

We walked from Haddington to Lennoxlove Estate via Agnes Burns nèe Brown's Well and a stone erected to mark where she the mother of Rabbie Burns stayed. The estate was full of amazing trees and huge wide space. We did wander around the house outside but very quickly in case someone was trying to have private time living there. Seeing the stone work on the building was the big draw for me. We found a tree that was planting by the Queen Mother 1953. We kept the dog ? on his lead near the house and farm animals in the field alone he doesn't chase and is well disciplined. Great walk.

Good informative guided tour. It is not worth the £10 entrance fee (unless HHA like myself) due to no outdoor areas to visit. Nearby Thirlestane Castle and Traqair House are considerably better value on that basis.Signposting needs much improvement for traveling here.Marketing for a visit here needs improvement. (AA road atlas and HHA website were the basis of knowledge of this place) This is/was probably the reason for its quietness, as experienced and learned from the guides.

To Lennox with love :) yes, we really enjoyed our visit to this gem of a house. Our guide N was knowledgable and patient, answering all our group's questions so helpfully, sharing stories and anecdotes. We were lucky to have him. There are lots of rooms to visit including a chapel and a dungeon. Equally there are lots of really interesting and unique things to see which are all very well presented. In the grounds there is even a wonderful 600 year old sweet chestnut tree.A complimentary cuppa and teacake at the end as Thirlestane do, and a marked walk in the lovely grounds would have made this visit outstanding.60 min tours are not long enough to see and appreciate everything inside the house. Suggest 90 min tours. Would def. recommend a visit to this house.
