I did a 24 mile round trip to visit Hallmark, Gretna Gateway today to buy gift wrapping paper, a couple of bags for wine bottles and some cards. I by-passed a number of supermarkets to take my business to a supposed greetings-card specialist retailer thinking I was bound to find a better choice there. The cards I found at Hallmark were average at best. Despite being the 31st January the only wrapping paper available in the whole shop was about 4 rolls of Christmas paper. There were NO / ZERO / NIL / 0 rolls of birthday paper, celebration paper, congratulations paper or new-baby paper AT ALL - absolutely none! There were only three bags for wine bottles which were also decidedly dull. What a disgrace from a supposedly specialist retailer. In contrast I stopped in at Tesco on my way home and found a wide selection of good wrapping paper, bags and cards. If Hallmark can't even fulfil its own narrow objective as a retailer, it may as well shut its doors and stop trading for good. Even the girl behind the til was embarrassed at their lack of stock.

Browsed but then decided not to purchase as better value for money at the Card Factory in Workington.
