Just come back from a two night stay with a large group of freinds for a running/drinking weekend!Had a great time the hotel was perfect, nicely presented, clean and a homely feel.Mark was very freindly and very accommodating, we truly had a great time gathering round the cosy cracking fireplace for drinks on both nights.Everyone had dinner on the second night which was outstanding!!... thankyou Lucy the chef! The meals were brought out with military precision thanks to Mark and the two young men [sorry can't remember their names!] Such great lads with good manners and sense of humour which they needed with us lot!Breakfast is fabulous and ordering the night before ensured everything was set out for us at our table ready to go and the delicious cooked breakfast followed shortly.Overall its been a brilliant weekend and I would highly recommend the Speyside Hotel for a family run freindly stay with delicious locally sourced food ?

Do not stay here If it is cold outside and ask for the portable heater. The receptionists are really nice though. With the gist out of the way I want to go into further details as to why I cant recommend this hotel.I stayed there in November for 2 nights, as far as the breakfast room goes I seemed to be the only person staying there. My room was as far from the entrance as possible for some reason (2nd floor) but that didnt matter. When I came into the room it was quite cold (15°C at best) so I checked for open windows, nothing. Luckily in the reviews someone mentioned a portable heater which I asked for at the reception and got it.The room was also interesting, it was the first room I saw where you cant activly Lock your door, the light in the room is positioned on one side of the room. Thus I got the room to roughly 18°C and stopped the portable heater since the build-in heaters should continue to work right? NOPE.From the second night I figured out that the heaters will get shut down in the night at around 10-11pm. And turn on at around half past 6.Shutting of the heating when it gets colder outside is the opposite of what people did in the medieval times when they threw another log in the fire, which is why I cant fathom that decision. In the first night I woke Up at 6 am because it was freezingly cold. 8-10°C at best, it was so cold I could see my breath fogging. That was also the night I caught a cold that lingered for 1 1/2 weeks. In the second night I left the heater running and the room only got a few degrees colder which was okay. The breakfast was good, you get what you ask for, nothing more ans nothing less.As mentioned, the people at the reception were kind and understanding. The 2 stars are only because no one there warned me about the freezing temperature in the room, I got sick and I cant fathom the idea of risking residents health just to maybe safe a few quids.Rooms: It was extremly cold in the night below 10°CNoteworthy details: The heaters/radiators get shut down in the night

We went for a meal. It was a great dining experience with fancy food. The price was at our higher end and a 10% service charge applied to the bill. The service was good and it was busy.

You can stay in the flashest hotels and leave feeling like part of a tourist production line. And you can stay at a private hotel where the proprietors welcome you...are interested in where and what you want to see and do and help you get there. Mark ticked all the boxes. Conversation and attention making our stay at Seyside Hotel our must enjoyable during our 3 week tour of the UK.The restaurant offered the best Scottish traditional menu options s we have seen so far.Lucy is a clever chef.I loved the large bathroom and suite. The spacious bar and lounge area.People make it.I'm disappointed we couldn't stay longer.

Another brilliant trip. We have been coming since shortly after the excellent Mark took over as Manager. Each visit has got better and better and it is great to see the place so busy. Comfort and a big welcome are guaranteed for us and our beloved dogs. Last year Mark married the equally excellent Lucy who is a most accompilshed chef. He has also two wonderful staff in Lesley and Mel. THey work really hard tp ensure ourcomfort and enjoyment and I can safely say this is now the best hotel in the area. Roll on next SEptember.

Good location, did not stay overnight in the hotel but ate there, not recommended. The floors are sticky, the carpet is so dirty that it seems like you are walking through a mud puddle and then over a sticky floor to the bar, which looks messy and dirty. Waited a very long time for our food and drinks. Portions tasteless and over-cooked. I don't understand the good reviews
