This has always been our favourite coffee spot when visiting our wee highland home. What a great surprise when we discovered that they now open as a restaurant over the weekend. These guys are good, we have dined with them in the past when they did a restaurant near to Aviemore.
What a delight, a small menu that was difficult to choose from as we wanted it all! Flavours were amazing, beautifully presented, wine list was great and it was exceptionally good value for money and as always the owners are such a pleasure. What a great addition to the town. We got the bus from Aviemore and the timings were perfect. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Our second dining experience at Square 1 since their new Friday-Saturday evening offering was launched a few weeks back. Everything about what Ellie and Al are doing here is truly special. The warm welcome, relaxed atmosphere and top notch ever changing menu makes this a unique offering in Grantown. Give them a call to book, the table is yours for the whole evening and you will feel like you've really treated yourselves ... we're already booked in again for another exceptional evening I'm sure!

Hidden gem you won't find on social media as they are off-grid and happier for it.
Warm and hospitable welcome. Delicious cakes and coffee throughout the day. Fabulous evening meal menu. Max 6 diners - peaceful adults only. So good it doesn't need hype. Worth the travel if you fancy a foodie adventure.

We dined at Square 1 dining yesterday evening. Wow, the food was sensational, service was as friendly as ever and the atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. This is a top place to eat and will definitely be booking again. Also exceptional value for money. Thank you Ellie and Al and team xx

Delighted to happen across this fab cafe today.

Found this wee gem on a trip back from Nairn heading to Glasgow. Sunny day and we sat in the garden, a little sun trap. Didn?t want to leave. Delicious soup, and coffee. Cakes looked good but we didn?t try.

not a very inviting shop front but once in a lovely quirky cafe with pleasant friendly staff.

We have been coming to the high st merchants for years, and it is still by far our favourite cafe when we visit the Cairngorms. The food is sublime (and great value for the quality), and the staff are both wonderful and hard working as well as welcoming and attentive. We would recommend to all passers by, even if you?re just popping in for a coffee, because this cafe is a hidden gem and worth every penny.

Lovely cafe. Both breakfast and lunch menus are fab and the baked goods are exceptional. Highly recommended. Highlights are soup with a cheese scone and the muffins.
