Unfortunately, the customer care standards at the River restaurant in Gourock have slipped considerably. In fairness, the restaurant was busy but certainly not full. However, after waiting around 5 minutes to be seated while holding a baby, we then waited another 15 minutes before we eventually asked to see a menu. Around 15 minutes after that, for the first time ever, we got up and left the restaurant as no one had taken our drinks order or acknowledged we were waiting to be served. Disappointing service from what to be a well run restaurant.

What has happened to The River? Went for dinner for my partners birthday. Arrived at 7pm and one of the staff pointed to our table. We sat for 20 minutes with no staff member around and when one did appear and asked what wr wanted we had to say that a menu would be nice!! We finally ordered our meals and a bottle of wine. Nearly an hour after arriving we still didn?t have a drink and had to ask for our wine. When food arrived it was nice although we were asked if we wanted our main course with our starters!!!!! When we finished we paid and left and I honestly will never be back. The menu is now poor for dinner and the service is shocking. There was one poor girl running around trying to make things right but the other one couldn?t find haddock on the menu as she didn?t know it was a fish. The River really is the only place in Gourock for a nice night out and I love supporting local business but I?ll be eating elsewhere from now on. Such a shame as it used to be great

Went in for a birthday lunch , 3 tables were given menus and food before us and they came in after us , 20 mins we waited on menu, got our tea served and was asked how many sugars we wanted , never have been asked this anywhere before, he forgot to come back with the one wee sachet of sugar that I eventually got , food came 30 mins after ordering?.not good at all , as tea was now cold , the food was ok , but feeling invisible is not good .

Haven't been here for over a year. And what a difference a year makes! We had to wait about 25 minutes for our food to be prepared and both were simple meals. Hubby's Cajun chicken wrap consisted of chicken and cheese - not a Mexican ingredient in sight! My mac cheese was nice enough. Both meals had ridiculously small portions and seemed very overpriced at £9 each or thereabouts. Top this off with watery cola filled with ice and two hungry and thirsty diners were seriously miffed!! We were both really surprised to find the premises half empty as previously its been hard to get a table at lunchtime so its seems we aren't the only patrons that wont return.

Hmm - great views, nice place. Lacking tasty food maybe? I feel like the kitchen is staffed by college drop outs instead of proper chefs?? Haven?t had anything that I would make me rush back

Love the dark hot chocolate here, so rich?. Ordering that every time we visit. Had lunches here before, mussels were amazingOrdered poached eggs with Haggis on muffin, and a full breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed them! Along with the dark hot chocolate, that was £24, not bad at all considering how much it costs to run a business these days.Vegetarian options: Veggie breakfast available, and instead of meat topping options for omelette/poached eggs, there is spinach available.Parking: Free Street parking with disc, one hour free on Kempock Street, 3 hours on street at the back. If it's really busy there's also the paid public car park by the Clyde operated by the local councilKid-friendliness: High chair availableWheelchair accessibility: No step at door, accessible toilet available. Not sure if the restaurant above is the same though

The foods and drinks were amazing ? the staffs were extremely nice and friendly! I would defend recommend that place.

The food was amazing ? ( ordered wee soup of the day and thai green curry with few drinks?). The staff were extremely friendly and served my food very quick. Also, the local is in great location with wonderful view ? not gonna mention that they are doing a wee quiz nigh on Thursday, which was a fun to participate ? Overall, the place has great menu, not that expensive (especially cocktails !!) and good staff so I definitely recommend this restaurant. ??

The view is wasted on this place (which in a previous incarnation was great). Now the service is terrible with rude and painfully slow staff. I can?t comment on the quality of the extortionately-priced coffees as after 20minutes waiting in a practically empty restaurant, we cancelled the order (the woman with a serious attitude problem was too busy chatting to her friends and so was slow and got the order wrong). She then claimed she didn?t know how to make a refund to a card. And when I suggested she get the manager to do it, she said she was the manager - so there?s no hope for this place.

First visit to GoodBrew but certainly not the last. Comfortabe interesting interiors with attentive pleasant servers. Food was very good. Cauliflower and leek soup was amazing. Coffee excellent. Scones delicious. Highly recommend.Will visit again.
